Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, Ameer-e-Aala of Saut-ul-Awliya Jammu and Kashmir, has strongly condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for introducing a bill in the Assembly proposing to hand over the Waqf Board to the United Council of Ulema. He said the forum has no connection with the Waqf or sacred shrines, Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channe and many of its members view shrine visitation and vows (Nazar and Niyaz) as acts of Shirk and Bid‘ah. Dawoodi emphasised that around 80% of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jama‘at population holds deep love and reverence for shrines, making the proposal deeply unacceptable and divisive.
