In its letter to the Prime Minister, JKSA said the situation in Iran has sharply deteriorated due to widespread unrest, mass protests, violent crackdowns, and reported killings in several regions. The Association expressed deep anxiety over the condition of hundreds of Indian students, most of them from Jammu and Kashmir, who are pursuing MBBS and other medical courses in Iran.

JKSA said many Indian students choose Iran because of its affordable education system and long-standing academic ties with India. However, the present instability has placed them at serious risk.

National Convenor of JKSA, Nasir Khuehami, said that nearly 2,000 Kashmiri students are currently enrolled in medical universities across different provinces of Iran. He explained that most students depend on hostels, universities, public transport, and local services, which makes them highly vulnerable during political unrest and internal conflict.

Khuehami said the current situation has created fear and uncertainty among students, leaving many feeling unsafe and stranded. He added that JKSA has been receiving continuous distress calls from students and their families. These concerns include restricted movement, occasional internet shutdowns, lack of clear safety advisories, and no visible emergency arrangements on the ground.

The Association said poor communication has increased panic among parents in India, who are thousands of kilometres away and unable to understand the real situation. This, it said, has caused severe mental stress for families.

JKSA urged the Prime Minister to direct the Ministry of External Affairs to set up dedicated, round-the-clock communication channels between Indian students in Iran and the Indian Embassy Tehran. The Association requested regular contact by embassy officials, active emergency helplines, timely advisories, and uninterrupted communication.

Highlighting the seriousness of the crisis, JKSA also called for immediate readiness of a full evacuation plan. Khuehami said that if the security situation worsens further or key infrastructure comes under threat, a timely evacuation could save lives. He stressed that the Government of India must be fully prepared to act quickly if required.

The Association said the safety and dignity of Kashmiri students studying abroad is a national responsibility and must remain a top priority. It added that swift government action would protect lives, calm families, and uphold India’s moral and constitutional duty towards its citizens overseas.

Expressing faith in the Prime Minister’s leadership, JKSA said India has always stood by its citizens during crises across the world. The Association said it is confident that the same sensitivity and resolve will guide the government’s response in this situation.

JKSA added that it remains in constant contact with students and their families, is closely monitoring developments, and is ready to assist the Government and concerned authorities in any way required.
