Security forces on Friday carried out surprise checking in the Lal Chowk area of Srinagar ahead of the seventh anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama suicide attack, officials said.
Teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted searches in the busy commercial hub, including inspections in several hotels. Police checked rooms and luggage of guests and verified their identity cards during the operation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Officials said the checking is part of precautionary security measures ahead of February 14, which marks seven years of the Pulwama attack.
On February 14, 2019, an explosive-laden car rammed into a convoy of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Lethpora in Pulwama district along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, killing 40 personnel.
