Minister Satish Sharma Visits GMC Jammu, Meets Kishtwar Cloudburst Victims, Offers Condolences to Bereaved Families

Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma on Friday conducted a comprehensive visit to Jammu to assess the ongoing relief and medical response following the devastating cloudburst tragedy in Kishtwar.

The minister began his visit at the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where several injured victims are undergoing treatment. Accompanied by GMC Principal Dr Ashutosh Gupta, HoD Orthopaedics Dr Sanjeev Gupta, Medical Superintendent Dr Varinder Trisal, and senior health officials, Sharma interacted with patients and their attendants, offering words of solidarity and encouragement.

He directed the hospital administration to ensure round-the-clock medical attention, timely interventions, and the best possible treatment for the injured. Appreciating the efforts of doctors, paramedics, and hospital staff, Sharma commended their dedicated emergency response in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Condolences and Assurances to Families

Following his hospital visit, Sharma also met several bereaved families of Kishtwar victims who are based in Jammu. He offered condolences, expressed deep sympathy for their losses, and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.

The minister assured the affected families that the government stands firmly with them and pledged that relief, compensation, and rehabilitation measures would be provided without delay.

Government’s Commitment to Support

Speaking on the tragedy, Sharma said that the incident has deeply shaken the entire Jammu and Kashmir region. He reaffirmed the Union Territory administration’s commitment to supporting those affected through comprehensive assistance.

As a mark of solidarity, the minister also attended the last rites of victims held at different locations in Jammu district, standing alongside grieving families in their moment of sorrow.

Sharma, who holds the portfolio of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services, and Sports, said the administration remains fully committed to extending all necessary help and rehabilitation support to rebuild the lives of those impacted by the Kishtwar disaster.
