During preliminary questioning, officials said the accused allegedly received the weapons from across the border. He was reportedly assigned to deliver the consignment to another person when he was intercepted by the Army patrol.

Authorities are now trying to identify the intended recipient of the weapons and uncover details of the suspected cross-border network.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched a search operation in the Marlog and Lodra forests in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. The operation was started after inputs about the possible movement of three suspected terrorists in the area.

The search operation was still underway at the time of the last reports.
