OGW Arrested with Pistols in Nagrota; Fresh Search Operation Launched in Kathua’s Rajbagh Sector

In a significant counter-terrorism development, an Over Ground Worker (OGW) linked to terrorists was arrested near Nagrota, Jammu, while a fresh search operation was launched in Kathua district after movement of two suspected persons was reported, officials said on Wednesday.

According to police officials, a Srinagar-bound private car was intercepted at the Traffic Checking Point (TCP) near Nagrota late Tuesday night. Upon searching the vehicle, three pistols of different makes—including Chinese and Turkish—along with ammunition were recovered.

The car’s driver, identified as Azan Hamid, a resident of Srinagar, was arrested on the spot. Police sources said he is currently being questioned about his possible links to terrorist networks.

Initial investigations suggest that the arms and ammunition were smuggled from across the border and were intended to be delivered in the Kashmir Valley.

Officials also confirmed that more arrests and recoveries are expected in connection with this case as the investigation deepens.

Fresh Movement of Suspects in Kathua

Meanwhile, security forces launched a search operation in Chabba Chak, Rampur, and adjoining areas in the Rajbagh sector of Kathua district. This was in response to credible inputs about the movement of two suspected persons in black clothing and carrying backpacks near the Ujh river late Tuesday night.

The suspected individuals are believed to be terrorists attempting to infiltrate or regroup in the region. Troops have been mobilised and search operations are underway. Further details are awaited as the operation progresses.

Security agencies remain on high alert amid concerns about cross-border smuggling of weapons and possible terror activities in the region.
