As per an order issued by the Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat, the attachment pertains to a two-storey residential house along with land measuring 2 kanals, 1 marla, and 90 sqft at Bulbul Bagh, Barzulla, Srinagar. The action has been taken under FIR No. 157/2009 registered under Sections 120, 120-B, 121, 153-A RPC and 13, 38, and 39 UAPA at PS Shaheed Gunj.
The order states that during investigation, it was established that Qayoom and others had organized and participated in a seminar on the death anniversary of late Ali Mohammad Jinnah in 2009, where anti-national speeches were delivered, promoting secessionist ideology. It further mentions that incriminating material, including banned Hizbul Mujahideen literature, seal impressions, and letters, were recovered from his residence after a court-sanctioned search.
The DGP’s order notes that the property in question was used for “concealing incriminatory material and for furtherance of terrorist activities,” and thus falls within the ambit of “proceeds of terrorism” under Section 2(g) of the UAPA.
