Reacting to the incident, Abdullah said that such elements exist in society and may continue their actions. However, he stressed that India is a secular country where the Constitution guarantees freedom to every religion to manage and run its religious institutions.
“Evil exists and will continue to do its work. But India is a secular nation, and the Constitution gives every religion the right to run its institutions. It is the responsibility of the Union government to guide states and ensure such incidents are stopped,” he said.
Abdullah urged the Central government to issue clear directions to all states to prevent violence against religious places and maintain communal harmony.
On India–Bangladesh Relations
Speaking about Bangladesh, Abdullah said he hopes for stronger cooperation between India and Bangladesh after the upcoming elections there.
“I want friendly relations with Bangladesh. Elections will be held there soon, and a new government will be formed. I hope New Delhi and the new government will work together and open new paths of cooperation,” he added.
Hope for Peace in Kashmir
Talking about Kashmir, Abdullah expressed hope that the New Year will bring peace to the region. He said he wishes for reduced suffering among people and better support for tourism, which is vital for the local economy.
He added that peace and stability are essential for improving daily life and ensuring long-term development in Jammu and Kashmir.
