J&K Police Suspend Head Constable After Drunk Driving Crash at Sheeri Checkpost

Jammu and Kashmir Police has placed a head constable under suspension after he crashed his car into a barrier at the Sheeri Checkpost while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to an official statement, Head Constable Javid Ahmad (EXK-011664), who is currently posted in the Uri area, was involved in the incident on the night of March 13, 2026.

Officials said he was driving an Alto car (JK12D-8187) when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the barrier at the Sheeri naka. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Suspension and Enquiry Ordered

Police authorities took serious notice of the incident, describing it as a case of misconduct and violation of departmental discipline.

As a result, the head constable has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.

Authorities have also ordered a departmental enquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police Stress Discipline and Accountability

The Baramulla Police said the force remains committed to maintaining discipline, accountability and high professional standards among its personnel.

Officials added that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the departmental enquiry.
