Security Forces’ Morale Strong, Youth Protection a Priority: J&K Deputy CM

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Monday said the morale of the country’s security forces remains strong despite ongoing challenges.

Speaking at the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium, Choudhary said the responsibility of security forces has increased, especially in fighting the drug menace and protecting young people from addiction.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He paid tribute to the Army, police and other security forces, saying their sacrifices allow people to live in peace. He added that Pakistan had caused immense suffering in Jammu and Kashmir and had repeatedly tried to disturb peace and damage tourism in the region.

“Pakistan tried to harm Kashmir and its tourism, but our people and security forces will never allow this to succeed,” he said.

Referring to the past, the Deputy Chief Minister said Jammu and Kashmir had gone through difficult times but was now moving forward on the path of development. He said the current situation in the Union Territory is peaceful and invited tourists from India and abroad to visit Kashmir.

“The valleys of Kashmir are ready to welcome tourists. Visitors will feel at home here,” he said.

Choudhary highlighted the importance of January 26, noting that the Constitution came into force on this day in 1950, making India a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. He also recalled the freedom struggle and the 1930 resolution for complete independence.

Emphasising the role of youth in nation-building, he expressed concern over drug addiction among some young people. He said the government is taking several steps to address the issue.

He mentioned initiatives such as Mission Youth, digital empowerment platforms, skill development programmes, entrepreneurship support systems, and online learning courses. The government, he said, aims to turn Jammu and Kashmir into a major skill hub of north India by 2030.

On development, Choudhary said new industrial estates and factories are being set up across several districts. He added that a local employment policy is also being prepared to create job opportunities for youth.

He said the government is expanding healthcare facilities, including new hospitals, medical colleges and specialised centres. Efforts are also being made to improve education, especially in remote areas and to promote girls’ education.

Choudhary said peace, development and youth participation will remain the government’s top priorities.
