Gurez Valley Sees First Snowfall of Season, Authorities Issue Weather Advisory for Bandipora District

The Gurez Valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district witnessed its first light snowfall of the season on Friday morning, signaling the beginning of colder weather across the region.

According to local reports, higher elevations, including the Tulail peaks, received a fresh layer of snow, while lower areas experienced rainfall. The snowfall marks the seasonal shift in weather, which typically begins in early October in the upper Himalayan regions.

In response to changing weather conditions, the Bandipora district administration has issued a weather advisory. Authorities have warned of possible heavy snowfall and rainfall in the coming days, particularly over high-altitude areas such as Razdan Pass and adjacent mountain ranges.

Mid-altitude zones may receive light snowfall, while the plains in Bandipora district could see intermittent rain. The advisory includes warnings about potential road blockages, landslides, and other weather-related hazards.

To ensure public safety, emergency control rooms have been activated. Residents can reach the District Control Room at 7006630771 and the Police Control Room at 9596767430 for any assistance or weather-related queries.(KNS).
