DGP Nalin Prabhat Reviews Security Preparedness in Shopian Ahead of Republic Day 2026

The Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Tuesday chaired a detailed security review meeting at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office, Shopian to assess the prevailing security situation and review operational readiness ahead of Republic Day 2026.

According to a police handout issued to GNS, the meeting was attended by senior officers, including S. J. M. Gillani, Special DGP Coordination; V. K. Focus on Law and Order and Counter-Terror Preparedness

During the meeting, the DGP conducted a comprehensive review of law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures, and security arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.

He stressed the need for heightened alertness, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination, and strong intelligence-based operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations across Shopian district.


Firm Action Against Anti-National Elements

Addressing the officers, DGP Nalin Prabhat issued clear instructions to act firmly and decisively against anti-national elements posing a threat to public safety and peace.

He reiterated a policy of zero tolerance towards activities inimical to national security and directed officers to continue sustained operations against such elements.


People-Friendly Policing Emphasised

At the same time, the DGP urged officers to maintain a people-friendly policing approach. He called upon the force to work with dedication, professionalism, and commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure a safe and secure environment for the citizens of Shopian.

The meeting concluded with directions to remain vigilant and proactive in the coming days, particularly in view of Republic Day celebrations.
