Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Friday offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers at the revered Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar.
Jumat-ul-Vida marks the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan and holds special religious significance for Muslims. Large numbers of worshippers gathered at the shrine to offer prayers on the occasion.

Criticism Over Jamia Masjid Closure
After the prayers, Abdullah criticised the authorities in Srinagar for not allowing congregational Jumat-ul-Vida prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar located in Nowhatta.
He expressed disappointment over reports that the gates of the mosque were locked on the important religious occasion, preventing devotees from offering prayers there.
Farooq Abdullah said the decision had hurt the religious sentiments of people, as thousands of worshippers traditionally gather at Jamia Masjid every year to offer Jumat-ul-Vida prayers.
The National Conference leader said such restrictions on religious gatherings during a significant day in Ramadan were deeply unfortunate.
