India has experience playing at Nassau County. They had a strong win against Bangladesh in a warm-up game and a solid performance in their first match against Ireland.Kohli missed the warm-up game and only scored one run in five balls while opening with Rohit. Decline in Local Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir: DGP Highlights Peaceful Elections and Tough Measures

Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), RR Swain, announced a decline in the number of locals joining terrorist groups, emphasizing the necessity of strict measures to ensure a peaceful environment.

The DGP highlighted the successful and peaceful conduct of the recent Lok Sabha elections in the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“We are pleased that the Lok Sabha elections were conducted without incident. Voter turnout was also high. We believe elections can only be held peacefully when there is no tension, allowing people to vote freely and candidates to contest without fear,” DGP Swain told reporters.

Swain emphasized the need for decisive action against certain individuals to maintain peace. “Police are fundamentally about enforcing the law. To sustain a peaceful environment, we must take action against some people,” he stated.

He also noted the police’s success in saving lives and reducing violence in the region.

“We are shifting from local to foreign terrorism. Local terrorism involves our residents joining terrorist ranks, and their numbers have decreased. We’ve worked with the community to prevent locals from joining terrorism. When someone does join, our priority is to understand why and prevent it from happening again. Our efforts have saved lives and reduced violence,” Swain added.

In related news, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has dismissed four employees for alleged “links with terror outfits” and anti-national activities, sources reported.

According to top government sources, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha invoked Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution to terminate these employees after thorough investigations revealed their involvement with Pakistan’s ISI and terrorist organizations, with law enforcement and intelligence agencies gathering substantial evidence against them. J&K Police Chief Vows to Maintain Peaceful Atmosphere Ahead of Assembly Polls

Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief RR Swain stated on Saturday that the police are fully focused and taking steps to maintain the ongoing peaceful and fearless atmosphere in the UT for the upcoming Assembly polls, scheduled by September this year.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a Public Grievance Redressal event in Pulwama, the DGP emphasized the police’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and fearless environment in J&K for the elections.

“We understand the importance of peace and a fearless atmosphere. When there is no fear, people will come out to vote. We are focused and taking steps to maintain the peaceful and fearless atmosphere in the UT for the upcoming Assembly polls,” DGP Swain said. “We hope the high voter turnout in the Lok Sabha polls will trigger a virtuous security cycle in J&K.”

Addressing a query, the DGP noted a shift from resident to foreign terrorism. “Our efforts to keep youth away from guns have been successful, saving many families from ruin. However, foreign terrorism persists. Around 70 to 80 foreign terrorists have infiltrated with arms and ammunition, recently attempting to sabotage an electricity tower,” he said.

Earlier, at the Public Darbar, the DGP emphasized tough action against a few culprits to provide relief to the majority and ensure policing is based on “truth and justice.”

The DGP stressed that police must serve the people and work collaboratively with them. “We sometimes have to act against a few culprits to provide relief to the majority,” he said.

He added that no effort is being spared, with regular discussions among officers to ensure policing is conducted with truth and justice. “Mistakes may happen, but the police must correct their own errors,” he said, without citing specific incidents.

DGP Swain also noted that while administrations change, the police remain a constant presence, always connected to the people.
