Baramulla Court Declares Terror Handler Hassan Reshi a Proclaimed Offender, Issues Proclamation Orders

On Saturday, Hassan Reshi, a known terror handler, was officially declared a proclaimed offender in Baramulla following an application submitted by the Baramulla Police. This declaration was made by the Court of the First Additional Sessions Judge, Baramulla, under the EMICO Act.

The police report stated, “Today, the Court of 1st Addl. Sessions Judge Baramulla declared a terror handler, namely Gh Hassan Reshi, son of Assadullah Reshi, resident of Baderkoot, involved in case FIR no: 4/2008 u/sec 2/3 EMICO Act, 120B, 121 of PS Tangmarg, on the application moved by Baramulla Police.”Hassan Reshi is currently in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and is associated with a terrorist group.

The court has issued proclamation orders under Section 87 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) against Reshi. These orders have been displayed at his residence and in public places, with the court directing him to appear before the court within a month. If he fails to comply, the process to attach his property under Section 88 CrPC will begin.

Previously, on May 28, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had attached properties belonging to two other terror handlers in Baramulla. The attached properties, which include 3 Kanals and 19 Marlas of land valued at several lakhs, belong to Jalal Din, son of Raj Mohd, from Zamboor Pattan, and Mohd Saki, son of Mastana Bhatti, from Kamalkote Uri. Both individuals are currently based in Pakistan.

This action was taken under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code in connection with a case involving Sections 7 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 4(III) of the TADA Act.

Biker and Pillion Rider Killed in Fatal Accident in Pattan, Baramulla District

A biker and his pillion rider were killed in a fatal road accident involving their two-wheeler in the Pattan area of Baramulla district.

Initial reports indicate that a bike with the registration number JK09-7294 crashed at Tappar Payeen in Pattan, causing critical injuries to both riders. Bystanders quickly transported them to Trauma Hospital Pattan, but both succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.

Confirming the incident, BMO Pattan Dr. Mohammad Taha Khan stated that the bodies of the deceased are still at the hospital. “We have informed their respective families,” he added.

It has been learned that one of the deceased was from Handwara in Kupwara district, and the other was from Mohali, Punjab.

Elderly Woman and Young Boy Injured in Gas Cylinder Explosion in Anantnag District

An elderly woman and a young boy were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in the Jafarpora locality of Anantnag district on Saturday. Both have been hospitalized with burn injuries, according to officials.

An official reported that the 50-year-old woman, employed as a cook at the school, and a 4-year-old boy were injured when a gas cylinder exploded, apparently due to a leak.

Following the incident, both were taken to SDH Bijbhera and later referred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment.

“The woman sustained 30 percent burn injuries, while the boy sustained 60 percent burn injuries,” the official said, adding that the fire caused by the explosion has been extinguished.

The woman has been identified as Hajira, wife of Abdul Ganie, and the minor boy as Zian, son of Mohammad Ashraf. (KNO)

Wildlife Officials Capture ‘Man-Eater’ Leopard in North Kashmir’s Baramulla Distric

On Saturday, the Department of Wildlife successfully captured a ‘man-eater’ leopard at Zamboor Pattan in Uri, located in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir.

The leopard is believed to be the same one that attacked and killed a four-year-old girl approximately ten days ago in Zamboor Pattan. The animal had also made several other unsuccessful attempts to attack locals.

After the tragic incident involving the young girl, the Department of Wildlife intensified their efforts, installing two cages in the area. Their vigilance paid off when the suspected leopard was found trapped in one of the cages this morning.

Local residents have expressed their relief and praised the wildlife officials for their diligent efforts in capturing the dangerous animal. (GNS)

Heightened Security in Srinagar Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit for International Yoga Day

Security measures have been significantly increased in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on June 20 to celebrate International Yoga Day, according to officials.A police officer at Police Headquarters informed Rising Kashmir that security in Srinagar and surrounding areas has been bolstered in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s arrival.

“A high-level meeting regarding PM Modi’s security arrangements took place in Srinagar, attended by heads of various agencies. Several standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been formulated for the arrangements, which will be implemented until June 20,” he stated.

Additional police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at critical locations, including the route from Airport Road to SKICC. Enhanced security measures such as CCTV surveillance, checkpoints, and frisking points have been established to address potential threats.The officer noted that Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel will be present in the city to monitor for any suspicious activities. J&K Police Commandos, along with CRPF personnel, have been positioned around the SKICC to prevent any untoward incidents.

“Checkpoints and inspection points will continue to operate along major highways in the Valley to prevent any incidents. Vehicles entering Kashmir at Qazigund are being thoroughly searched. Special teams have been assigned to key junctions to thwart any threats. We remain on high alert,” he said.In Srinagar, police and paramilitary forces have erected barricades at multiple locations, and similar measures are being taken in other major towns to inspect vehicles. As part of the security preparations for the PM’s visit, tight security has been deployed around the SKICC along the banks of Dal Lake.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Srinagar on June 20 and participate in the Yoga Day event on June 21. He will arrive in Kashmir on June 20 and stay overnight. The following morning, he will join the Yoga Day activities.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has been put on high alert in preparation for the PM’s visit. The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) has been tasked with overseeing the arrangements for the Yoga Day event.A JKSC official stated that preparations for the visit are underway. “We have asked Yoga teams and instructors to get ready for the significant event. We are fully engaged in preparations,” he said.”We have instructed various sports divisions to gather 3,000 athletes to participate in the mega event,” he added, noting that special training sessions are being held for the athletes in Srinagar.

DIG Ramban-Doda Shridhar Patil visited the Encounter Spot Chattergala

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ramban-Doda Range, Shridhar Patil visited the spot in Chattergala in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhaderwah on Wednesday where an exchange of fire had taken place on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to soldiers.The search operation is still going on.

“Last night when our personnel at the check post started checking (in Chattergala), our sentry saw some suspicious movement (of terrorists) and they challenged them. After that challenge, firing was done from there and then the exchange of fire continued for around one and a half hours. Our jawans, both from the army and the police, have fought bravely and we have started searching that area today,” Patil said, speaking to ANI on Wednesday.

Patil said that the Army, the Special Operations Group and the Kathua police have roped in the search operation since the area is hilly and forested.“It is a hilly and forested area. It is taking some time to search. The army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) police are searching together. We have also involved the Kathua police because the area in the South connects with Kathua, so we have started a joint search in that area,” the DIG added.

Speaking about the number of terrorists involved in the encounter, he said, “I cannot confirm the number of terrorists. It seems there is a group of terrorists.”“One policeman has been injured in last night’s exchange of fire…We are updated with the movement of this (terrorist) group. Soon we will neutralise them…,” he added.

Five jawans and a sub-divisional special police officer (SDPO) were injured in the encounter that began after terrorists opened fire at a joint checkpost of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in the Chattargala area on the Bhadarwah-Pathankot road in Doda.

This comes in the wake of the terror attack in Hiranagar village in Kathua district on Tuesday night in which one terrorist was killed and Sunday’s terror attack in Reasi in which ten pilgrims were killed.

On Tuesday evening ultras attacked a house in Saida Sukhal village in Hiranagar village in Kathua, a senior police officer said. One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and one terrorist were killed in the encounter between terrorists and security personnel. A hunt has been launched to track another terrorist who managed to escape.

JK police have formed 11 teams to investigate the attack.A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) assessed the situation in Reasi on Monday and the NIA’s forensic team is working on collecting evidence. Two terrorists were killed, and a CRPF jawan was martyred in an intense gunfight in the Kathua district, police reported on Wednesday.According to a police spokesperson, the encounter began on Tuesday evening in the village of Saida Sukhal, near Koota Morh of the Hira Nagar Police Station, and continued until Wednesday afternoon.

“One terrorist was neutralized on Tuesday evening, and the second terrorist was killed this afternoon. Tragically, one CRPF jawan also lost his life. The slain terrorists were part of a newly infiltrated group,” the spokesperson said.A civilian injured in the encounter is reported to be in stable condition and out of danger.

The identities of the slain terrorists have not yet been confirmed, but it is believed they infiltrated from across the border. A significant cache of arms and ammunition, including grenades, IEDs, and other war-like stores, was recovered from the terrorists.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain-IPS, has been on the scene monitoring the operation since Tuesday. He stated that the operation has not been called off yet, as there may be more terrorists hiding in the area.Security forces remain vigilant and are conducting thorough searches to ensure the safety and security of the region.

Farooq Abdullah Advocates Talks with Pakistan for Peace Amidst Regional Tensions

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has pitched for resuming talks with Pakistan, saying the new government in Pakistan “is willing to have a peaceful atmosphere with us” and India should “open the door to them”.In an interview with ANI, Farooq Abdullah, a former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, also pitched for “reviving” the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

“We still have problems with our neighbour. These problems will not be solved by military action… Unless we talk to our neighbours, we cannot solve it. The terrorists are coming through borders, and they will continue coming. Whichever government will be there tomorrow, will have to face the same thing… We need to come out of these situations… We have a major Yatra coming (Amarnath Yatra). Any small incident that might take place in that will be blown up in the rest of the country. We Kashmiris are not responsible for these things,” Abdullah said.

He was responding to a query on the terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.“The government in Pakistan, I think they are wanting to have a peaceful atmosphere with us. Let’s open the door to them. And let us revive SAARC. SAARC was made for the good of this entire area,” he said.

Late last night, terrorists launched an attack on an army base in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, marking the third such incident in as many days. A gunbattle is currently underway between the terrorists and security forces, according to police reports.

“An army and police joint checkpoint has engaged terrorists in the Chattargala area of Doda. The firefight is ongoing,” the police stated.

Initial reports indicate that two soldiers were injured in the shootout. This attack follows an incident earlier in the day where terrorists opened fire in Kathua district, resulting in one death and two injuries. Three days ago, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims, causing it to crash into a gorge and killing nine passengers.

Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu zone, who is overseeing the anti-terrorist operation in Kathua, reported that the Chattargala area army base came under attack late last night. The terrorists opened fire on a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles. The encounter has since moved to the higher reaches of the area.

“The firing in the area continues, and further details are awaited,” Jain informed reporters.

4 Dead Bodies killed in the terror attack in J&K brought to Jaipur

The bodies of four victims, including the two-year-old, killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi were brought to Jaipur by train on Tuesday.

The bodies of the deceased, namely Pooja Saini, a resident of Murlipura in Jaipur, her two-year-old son Livansh (Kuttu), Rajendra Saini and Mamta Saini, both residents of Chaumun in Jaipur, and one of the injured Pawan Saini, were brought to Jaipur.

Pawan Saini is Pooja Saini’s husband and Rajendra and Mamta Siani are Pooja’s uncle and aunt.

Eight members of a family hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur were also injured in the attack. All eight injured are undergoing treatment at Narayan Hospital in Katra.

Speaking to ANI, the brother of Dinesh Gupta, one of the injured persons, said, “SDM contacted us and informed us about my brother being admitted to the ICU. He went on June 4 and was about to return on June 10. I talked to my brother. He is fine. A total of our 8 family members are admitted to the Narayana Hospital in Katra district.”

Meanwhile, the search operation is still underway in the forest area in and around the incident site. Vehicle checking is also underway.

According to officials, the J-K Police Special Operation Group, Indian Army and CRPF are present at the site.
