CIK Detains Kashmiri Doctor and Wife, Probing Alleged Dukhtaran-e-Millat Links and Unlawful Online Activities

Drug Smuggling 2 arrested

The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Tuesday detained a doctor and his wife following coordinated searches at four locations across Kashmir in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged unlawful online activities.

A police official stated that the raids were conducted in Srinagar, Kulgam, and Anantnag under court-issued search warrants. The operation forms part of a continuing crackdown on social media users allegedly working in coordination with handlers across the border to promote terrorist, secessionist, and separatist content, spread disinformation, and incite public disorder.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“During the searches, CIK detained Shahzada Akhtar, a resident of Bugam, Kulgam, currently living at SheerenBagh, Srinagar, and her husband, Dr.Umer Farooq Bhat, who is posted at the Super Speciality Hospital, SMHS Srinagar,” the official said.

The action was registered under FIR No. 05/2025 at the CIK Police Station, Srinagar, under the NIA Act, Sections 196, 152, 351(2) of the BharatiyaNyayaSanhita, and Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

According to police, the couple allegedly used their professional status and social credibility to conceal unlawful online activities. Multiple digital devices were seized during the operation, including five mobile phones, five SIM cards, a tablet, and what officials described as “incriminating digital and documentary material” relevant to the investigation. “All recovered items have been sent for forensic examination,” the official added.

Police investigations indicate that Dr.Bhat, a government employee, was involved in online activities “detrimental to public order and national security.” Meanwhile, ShahzadaAkhtar is suspected of radicalising local women through curated online and offline interactions. Her alleged links to the banned outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat are also under scrutiny. “This points to a pattern in which individuals leverage social influence and community networks to advance extremist narratives,” the official said.

He further said that investigators believe the seized devices may help identify a wider network of individuals involved in organised propaganda operations.“Crackdown on such networks will continue, and further action is likely as the investigation progresses,” the official added

Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) Issues Urgent Advisory After Delhi Blast, Reports Rising Harassment of Kashmiri Students Across India

Jammu and Kashmir Students Association

In the aftermath of the tragic blast in Delhi, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has issued an urgent advisory for Kashmiri students across India following increasing reports of profiling, harassment, and sudden eviction from accommodations. The Association expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the attack, reiterating that Kashmiris have always rejected terrorism in all its forms and stand firmly with the victims and their families in this moment of national grief.

Association, however, voiced serious concern that several Kashmiri students are being subjected to sweeping suspicion and discriminatory behaviour in the wake of the incident. Students in different states have reported aggressive verification drives, intimidating questioning, disturbances in hostels, and hostile conduct from certain local residents. Some have even been directed to vacate their rented rooms without notice, creating a climate of fear and insecurity among young students far from home.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

National Convenor of Association Nasir Khuehami urged students to remain extremely vigilant during this sensitive period. He advised them to avoid unnecessary movement, public gatherings, travel, or participation in politically charged discussions; both online and offline. Even routine comments or harmless reactions on social media may be misinterpreted in the current volatile situation. Students have been asked to exercise utmost restraint and discretion in all interactions.

Khuehami encouraged students to stay in close contact with their families, keep trusted friends informed of their whereabouts, and report any instance of intimidation or harassment; whether by authorities, landlords, or private individuals. He stressed that many students are feeling anxious and unsafe, and assured that the Association is committed to ensuring they are not left to face such challenges alone.

To provide immediate support, Association has released the following helpline numbers for students in distress; 9149676014, 7006922829, 8825005327, 9906299199, 6006169477, 7028642004, 98584 45900, 9682381865, 7006724372, 9906385143, 8126655697, 7006028306, 7780931010, 7889425033,

He stated that a dedicated 24×7 rapid-response coordination team has been activated to intervene wherever required. The Association is in touch with university administrations, local police stations, and state authorities across the country to ensure Kashmiri students are not unfairly targeted or subjected to collective punishment. He emphasized that unlawful evictions will be immediately taken up with relevant authorities, and urged students to report if they face pressure from landlords or hostel managements.

Association warned that the surge of online misinformation and communal insinuations, particularly targeting Kashmiri youth, has intensified fear among students. “A society that normalizes suspicion towards its own citizens walks a dangerous path. Collective vilification does not strengthen national security; unity, fairness, and justice do.”

National General Secretary of Association Aadil Bhat reiterated that Kashmiris have always upheld democratic values, national integrity, and peaceful coexistence. The identity of Kashmiri students, who contribute significantly to India’s academic, scientific, and professional spaces, must not be criminalized or viewed through a lens of suspicion. The Association stressed that while law-enforcement agencies must be allowed to investigate the Delhi blast freely, innocent Kashmiris must not face fear or unjust treatment because of the actions of a few.

Reiterating its appeal for calm, the Association asked students to avoid confrontations, and focus on their academic responsibilities. If you face any harassment, threats, or intimidation, contact the local police and inform us without delay. Association requested the Government, universities, and local administrations to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students nationwide and reiterated its call for a public reassurance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prevent further stigmatization and restore trust.

Jammu Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) Acts Against Private Schools Violating Textbook Guidelines in Jammu & Kashmir

Joint Secretary BOSE Shahnaz Choudhary

The Jammu Kashmir Board of School Education has initiated firm action against several private schools found violating textbook guidelines by prescribing books from private publishers instead of the Board’s approved curriculum.

Joint Secretary BOSE Shahnaz Choudhary told reporters that the Board had received multiple complaints from parents, prompting district-wide inspections that revealed widespread deviations in some institutions.

Choudhary said BOSE teams have been deployed across all districts to monitor compliance with the prescribed book list. She said that during recent inspections, four private schools were found distributing textbooks from private publications in clear violation of BOSE norms. “These four schools have been identified and we are moving toward ending their affiliation,” she said, adding that eight other schools have already been fined for similar violations.

The Joint Secretary said that government-prescribed BOSE books are economical, lighter for schoolbags and aligned with the academic standards required for students. She said private publication books are not only costlier but often add unnecessary academic and financial burden on parents. “Our books meet every required standard. Education must be student-friendly and not a burden. Schools have already been directed to stop prescribing books from private publications,” she said.

Choudhary as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust (KNT) also revealed that some schools had approached the court seeking permission to continue using private publication books. She said the court, after reviewing the matter, ruled in favour of BOSE, reinforcing the Board’s authority to enforce its textbook policy.

She requested parents to remain vigilant and report any violations. “Parents can register their complaints at our grievance cell. We will take immediate action,” she said. BOSE officials added that inspections will continue in the coming weeks, and more erring institutions may face penalties or de-affiliation based on findings.

The Board reiterated that uniform implementation of BOSE-prescribed books is essential for standardising learning outcomes and ensuring affordability for all families across the education system.

Altaf Bukhari Calls

“It is worrying that well-educated youth are getting radicalised and joining terror activities,” Bukhari said, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) while stating that the phenomenon poses a grave challenge and needs urgent, honest introspection from all stakeholders.

Condemning the recent Delhi blast, the Apni Party chief while addressing a press conference said the party stands against all forms of violence and demands strict punishment for those found involved. “Those involved should be punished. But innocents should not be harassed,” he said, while expressing sympathies with all the victim families affected by the incident.

Bukhari also expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station on the outskirts of Srinagar. He said the families of those who lost their lives should be properly compensated by the government, and adequate support must be extended to those whose houses and properties suffered damage in the explosion.

“We express our sympathies with all the families who lost their loved ones in the Nowgam police station blast, and those who suffered damages to their houses must also be fairly compensated,” Bukhari added.

Shocking Network Exposed: How a Secret Terror Cell Orchestrated the Red Fort Blast

Red Fort

Investigators probing the terror module allegedly linked to Dr Umar, whom security agencies identified as the one who drove the explosive-laden car which went up in flames in the blast on November 10 at Red Fort, have found evidence of an organised internal structure, encrypted communication channels and coordinated movement of weapons, official sources said on Monday.

According to sources, Umar had created a Signal group around three months ago using a name with special characters. He added Muzammil, Adeel, Muzaffar and Irfan to this encrypted communication platform, which investigators believe was used for internal coordination.

A major lead surfaced after a weapon consignment, including a Krinkov rifle and a pistol was recovered from the car of Dr Shaheen, a key suspect in the case. The probe has revealed that Umar procured the weapons and handed them over to Irfan in 2024. Sources said Dr Shaheen had earlier seen the same weapons during a visit to Mufti Irfan’s room with Dr Muzammil. She is also suspected to have made the highest financial contribution to the group’s activities.

The investigation has indicated a clear division of roles. Financial support for the module was to be handled primarily by the three doctors, particularly Muzammil. Recruitment of Kashmiri youths was assigned to Irfan alias Mufti, who allegedly brought in Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil and Yasir ul Ashraf, both now arrested.

Sources said the probe has documented multiple instances of weapon-related activity. In October 2023, Dr Adeel and Dr Umar visited Irfan at Masjid Ali carrying a rifle in a bag and left after cleaning the barrel.

In November 2023, Adeel again reached Irfan’s residence with a rifle. Later, Dr Muzammil and Dr Shaheen Shahid also joined. The group left the weapon in Irfan’s custody. Investigators said Adeel returned the next day and collected the weapon.

Officials said the findings point to a coordinated network involving financing, recruitment and systematic weapon movement, operating through encrypted platforms and trusted personal links. (ANI)
