Srinagar Police Attach ₹1 Crore Properties Linked to NDPS Accused in Major Anti-Narcotics Action

Srinagar Police Attach

Police in Srinagar has achieved a significant breakthrough in its sustained campaign against narcotics trafficking and the proceeds of drug-related crimes.

A Spokesperson said that Police Post Qamarwari under Police Station Parimpora served notices for freezing/attachment of one double-storey and one single-storey residential house linked with the accused Suhail Ahmad Mir son of Gulzar Ahmad Mir resident of Barthana, Qamarwari, involved in FIR No. 64/2025 U/S 8/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Parimpora. The approximate value of the attached residential structures is above ₹1 crore.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

During the course of investigation, a comprehensive enquiry into the assets of the accused and his family members was conducted strictly in accordance with Chapter V-A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Examination of revenue records, property extracts, field verification reports, valuation inputs, and statements of concerned persons revealed that:

One double-storey residential house belonging to the accused’s father, and one single-storey residential house constructed on land belonging to the accused’s grandfather, but purchased and developed by the accused and his family, were acquired and constructed during the last 3–4 years, a period that coincides with the accused’s involvement in illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The investigation further established that the known and lawful income of the family is grossly insufficient to justify the acquisition and construction of these properties. The source of funds was found to be unexplained, disproportionate, and prima facie linked to proceeds of narcotic trafficking.

Accordingly, based on the material collected during investigation, freezing/seizure orders under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act have been prepared and issued. These orders prohibit any sale, transfer, mortgage, or creation of third-party interest in the said properties until further orders from the Competent Authority. The freezing orders were served upon the concerned persons in the presence of independent witnesses, and they were duly informed about the legal consequences of any violation.

J&K Police reiterates its firm resolve to combat drug trafficking and dismantle the financial networks sustaining the narcotics trade by targeting not only offenders but also the proceeds of crime, in accordance with law. Public cooperation is solicited in sharing credible information to help eradicate the drug menace from society.

AIIMS Study Finds No Link Between COVID-19 Vaccines and Sudden Deaths in Young Adults

New COVID-19

A year-long autopsy-based study conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi on Sunday found no scientific evidence linking COVID-19 vaccination to sudden deaths among young adults — reaffirming that the vaccines are safe and effective.

The study, titled ‘Burden of Sudden Death in Young Adults: A One-Year Observational Study at a Tertiary Care Centre in India’, has been published in the ‘Indian Journal of Medical Research’, the flagship journal of the Indian Council of Medical Research.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Researchers closely examined sudden death cases of people aged between 18 and 45 years using verbal autopsy, post-mortem imaging, conventional autopsy and detailed histopathological tests.According to the findings, there was no statistically significant association between COVID-19 vaccination status and sudden deaths in the young population.

The researchers found that most of the deaths were caused by well-known medical conditions, with cardiovascular diseases emerging as the leading reason.

Respiratory illnesses and other non-cardiac causes were also identified in several cases.

The study also noted that both COVID-19 infection history and vaccination status were similar across younger and older age groups, and no causal link between vaccination and sudden deaths was found.

These results, the researchers said, are in line with global scientific evidence that supports the safety of COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr Sudheer Arava, Professor at AIIMS, New Delhi, said the study is particularly important at a time when misleading claims and unverified reports are circulating about a possible link between COVID-19 vaccines and sudden deaths.

He stressed that the findings clearly do not support such claims and highlighted the need for scientific and evidence-based research to guide public understanding.

Health experts said that sudden deaths among young individuals, though tragic, are often linked to underlying and sometimes undiagnosed health issues, especially heart-related conditions.

They underlined the importance of early health screening, lifestyle changes and timely medical intervention to reduce such risks.

Dr Arava also advised people to trust credible scientific sources and avoid misinformation that could weaken public confidence in proven public health measures, including vaccination.
