Chinar trees, the ‘heritage’ trees of Jammu and Kashmir, now have a “digital tree Aadhar” through an initiative undertaken by the J&K Forest Department and the J&K Forest Research Institute (FRI).
The project leverages modern technology, including the Geographical Information System (GIS), to preserve the Chinar trees and create a comprehensive database for their conservation.
Dr. Syed Tariq, Project Coordinator at FRI, told Rising Kashmir that the initiative began in 2021. Over the past four years, the department has successfully geotagged 28,560 Chinar trees.
He said that a QR-based digital plate is affixed to each Chinar tree using a specialized spring-enabled metal, designed to accommodate the tree’s growth for over 50 years without embedding into the bark. Citizens can scan the QR code to access detailed information about these heritage trees.
Project Coordinator said that the geotagging process adheres to standard protocols and involves recording 25 characteristics of each tree in the Chinar Tree Record Form (CTRF-25). These characteristics include geographical location, tree status, health, height, diameter at breast height (DBH), circumference, clear bole height, crown length, and additional remarks.
“We observed the maximum number of Chinar trees in Srinagar, followed by Ganderbal, Anantnag, and Baramulla. Interestingly, the Ganderbal district is home to a Chinar tree larger than the one previously declared the largest in Asia. This tree has a girth at breast height (GBH) of 22.25 meters and a height of 27 meters,” Dr. Tariq said.
He said, during the current financial year, an additional 10,000 Chinar trees are being geotagged. These trees will also be assigned scannable QR plates containing detailed information about each tree. The project is being funded under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) scheme.
Dr. Tariq added that the collected data will be made available online through a dedicated website. This initiative aims to reduce redundant tree evaluations, as the QR codes assigned to each tree will provide all necessary information.
“There is a need to further promote awareness programs about the preservation of Chinar trees and distribute saplings to government institutions, schools, and security forces for replanting. Establishing a Vegetative Multiplication Garden (VMG) could also support the sustained production of high-quality saplings,” he said.

In a whirlwind of celebrity gossip and sensational headlines, the long-standing rumors surrounding Jennifer Aniston & Barack Obama’s alleged secret affair have resurfaced with a vengeance. Amid growing speculation about the state of Barack and Michelle Obama’s marriage, new reports suggest that the former President and the actress might have shared more than just a brief encounter in the past. This has sparked a media frenzy, especially as Michelle Obama has notably distanced herself from Barack in recent events. With new details emerging and the Obamas’ once-solid relationship seemingly facing turbulent times, many are left wondering whether there’s any truth to the sensational claims of an affair between Aniston and Obama.
The Origin of the Rumors
The rumors of an alleged romance between Jennifer Aniston and Barack Obama aren’t exactly new. These whispers first gained traction when a tabloid magazine published a cover story titled “The Truth About Jen & Barack!”, claiming the two stars had been secretly involved. The story set social media abuzz, with fans and tabloids alike speculating about the nature of their relationship. Despite the years that have passed, the speculation refuses to die down, and recent events have only fanned the flames.
In October, Aniston was asked directly about the rumors during an appearance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. The actress, known for her role in Friends, was quick to deny any romantic link with Barack Obama. “Of all the calls you get from your publicist where you’re just like ‘Oh no, what’s it gonna be?’ or you get an email saying some cheesy tabloid is gonna make up a story – and then it’s that…” Aniston commented, making it clear that the rumors were completely unfounded.

Aniston’s Denial & The Only Meeting
Jennifer Aniston also clarified her limited interaction with the former President, stating that she had only met him once – at a Hollywood gala in 2007. When Kimmel asked if there was any truth to the rumored connection between her and Michelle Obama, Aniston responded firmly, saying, “That is not true.” She further emphasized that her connection to Michelle Obama was stronger, having known the former First Lady much longer than Barack.
Aniston’s denial, however, did little to put the rumors to rest. The story, despite being debunked, continued to circulate on social media and was even referenced in new reports about the Obamas’ relationship.
The Strained Marriage of Barack and Michelle Obama
As the Jennifer Aniston rumors resurface, so too do reports about the Obama marriage facing significant strain. According to a report by RadarOnline, Barack and Michelle are said to be in a “friendship” phase rather than a romantic relationship. Insiders claim that the couple has grown increasingly distant in recent years and that their once-solid marriage is now facing challenges.
The report goes further to suggest that Michelle Obama was particularly hurt by the resurgence of the Jennifer Aniston affair rumors. The rumors were described as unwanted attention that added more stress to the couple’s already complicated dynamic. Sources close to the former First Lady have stated that Michelle felt let down by the entire situation, further straining her relationship with Barack.
“The Obamas are having a tough time, there’s no doubt about that,” an insider revealed. “Their once solid marriage has come under strain, and for the first time, they’re struggling to keep a lid on their problems.”
Michelle Obama’s Recent Absences and Public Messages
Michelle Obama has recently been notably absent from high-profile events that she once would have surely attended. Notably, she missed the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, marking the first time in history a former First Lady has done so. While Michelle’s office cited a scheduling conflict, sources speculate that her absence may be more than just logistical. Some suggest that it may have had to do with personal issues, including her strained relationship with Barack.
Moreover, Michelle’s absence at Donald Trump’s inauguration and her displeasure at seeing Barack interact with Trump at Carter’s funeral have fueled further speculation about tensions in their marriage. Many have read these actions as signs that Michelle is distancing herself from Barack, both personally and politically.
Barack Obama’s Public Display of Affection
Despite the rumors and ongoing speculation, Barack Obama has continued to publicly express his affection for Michelle. On her recent birthday, the former President took to social media to share a heartfelt message, calling her “the love of my life.” The message read, “Happy birthday to the love of my life, @MichelleObama. You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor and grace — and you look good going it. I’m so lucky to be able to take on life’s adventures with you. Love You!”
While the message may suggest a strong bond between Barack and Michelle, it does little to quell the rumors of marital struggles. Many believe that the Obamas’ public display of affection is simply an attempt to present a united front amid growing speculation about their personal lives.
Conclusion: What’s Really Going On?
The resurfacing of the Jennifer Aniston-Barack Obama affair rumors has undoubtedly added fuel to the fire regarding the Obama marriage. While both Barack and Michelle have not directly addressed the rumors, the ongoing reports of strain in their relationship and Michelle’s increasing public absence have left many wondering whether their bond is truly as strong as it once appeared.
In the midst of these personal challenges, the Obamas are no strangers to public scrutiny. However, with the constant media attention surrounding their relationship, it remains to be seen how much longer the former First Couple can maintain their privacy and keep their personal lives away from the prying eyes of the public.
As for Jennifer Aniston, despite her repeated denials, the rumors surrounding her and Barack Obama’s alleged affair show no signs of disappearing anytime soon. Whether these claims are true or just another tabloid fabrication, one thing is clear: the intersection of celebrity, politics, and personal lives continues to captivate the public’s imagination.
