In a sustained effort to combat the menace of drug trafficking in the district, Anantnag Police has taken stringent action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by attaching properties belonging to individuals involved in narcotics-related cases.

In connection with FIR No. 175/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bijbehara, the residential property of Mohd Afzal Bhat, son of Sanaullah Bhat, resident of Moomin Danji, Bijbehara, has been formally attached. The action was taken as part of legal proceedings to disrupt the illicit gains from drug-related activities.

Additionally, in another significant development, a Hyundai Creta vehicle bearing registration number JK02CX-6665, owned by Sabzar Ahmad Das, son of Nazir Ahmad Das, resident of Wagihama, Bijbehara, has been seized in connection with FIR No. 102/2025 registered under Sections 8/20, 29, and 27-A of the NDPS Act at the same police station.

The combined estimated market value of the attached residential house and the seized vehicle is approximately ₹40 lakhs.

Anantnag Police reiterates its firm commitment to continue the crackdown on drug peddlers and to take all necessary legal actions to dismantle the drug network in the district. In continuation of its sustained efforts to combat drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday have intensified their crackdown on narcotics and apprehended four drug peddlers in Chadoora area of Budgam district.

A significant quantity of contraband substances has been recovered during the operation.

A Spokesperson said that acting on specific and credible information, Police Station Chadoora received a tip-off regarding one individual, namely Mohammad Ashraf Parray (son of Ghulam Ahmad Parray), a resident of Bugam, Chadoora, who had allegedly concealed a large quantity of poppy straw-like substances in his cowshed.

Upon receipt of this information, a police team from Police Station Chadoora, under the supervision of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class (NT), Nagam, conducted a search of the identified location. During the search, 76 kilograms and 540 grams of semi-ground poppy straw and 4 kilograms and 290 grams of finely ground poppy straw in powder form (commonly known as Fukki) were recovered. The contraband was sealed in seven parcels and seized on the spot as per due procedure.

Four individuals involved in the commission of the crime were arrested on the spot. They have been identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, son of Jalal Uddin Dar, resident of Ghat Tokna, Awantipora, Mohammad Ismail Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, resident of Ghat Tokna, Awantipora, Sajad Ahmad Guroo, son of Abdul Aziz Guroo, resident of Ghat Tokna, Awantipora and Mohammad Altaf Parray, son of Ghulam Ahmad Parray, resident of Bugam, Chadoora.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 108/2025 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora, and investigation is underway.

Baramulla Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize Heroin and Vehicle in Tangmarg

Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Baramulla have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that police party from Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg, at a checkpoint established at Tangmarg intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK04E-1076 with two persons on board. During search, 09 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Hassan Mir resident of Chanapora and Mudasir Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Ahad Lone resident of Treran. Both accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 34/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and further investigation is underway.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Shopian & Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A spokesperson said that police party from Police Post Keegam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Shopian Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Marhang crossing, intercepted a suspicious person who attempted to flee on spotting the police but was apprehended tactfully. Upon search, Charas sticks like substance (60 Grams) were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Thoker son of Gh Ahmad Thoker resident of Tumlihaal Pulwama.

Moreover, a police party of PS Ganderbal during Naka checking at Beehama intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, Charas like substance wrapped in Corn husks and concealed in a polythene bag was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Ghulam Ahmad Parra son of Ghulam Parra resident of Beehama, Ganderbal.

Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

In a significant breakthrough, police in Kulgam have arrested a lady drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from her possession.

A spokesperson said that Police party from Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Sofigund, noticed a lady attempting to flee the scene. The alert police party promptly apprehended her. During search, 07 grams of Brown Sugar, 2 kgs of Poppy Straw and cash amount of ₹10,000/- pertains to the proceeds of narcotics was recovered from her possession.

The lady drug peddler (name withheld) wife of Manto Hussain resident of Malda Calcutta A/P Sofigund has been arrested and shifted to police station where she remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 37/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh and investigation has been initiated.

Cyber Police Kashmir unit Awantipora has successfully resolved several cases of online financial fraud, recovering a total of ₹3,26,308/-

Multiple complaints were received involving fraudulent schemes amounting to ₹3,26,308/-. These scams involved fake investment opportunities where victims were promised high returns for additional deposits.

Acting swiftly, the Cyber Cell unit of PD Awantipora collected evidence and necessary information from the victims. Using advanced cyber means, they managed to freeze the fraudulent transactions. An amount of ₹3,26,308/-was held and recovered and thereof it was successfully credited back to the victims.

Police urge public to remain cautious against online scams, fake SMS credit messages, and installing unauthorized applications. Be cautious of video calls from unknown numbers and sharing personal information online.

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said to have arrested four drug peddlers with narcotic substance in North Kashmir’s Sopore.

A Police spokesperson said, “Based on specific inputs received from the public, Sopore Police launched a series of well-coordinated operations leading to the arrest of four drug peddlers and seizure of narcotic substances, including codeine-based syrup and brown sugar-like material. Three separate FIRs have been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.”

In the first incident at Adipora Crossing, one Rameez Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, resident of Adipora Sopore, was arrested with 13 bottles of codeine-like substance with tampered labels.

In the second operation, Waseem Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, also a resident of Adipora Sopore, was apprehended at Malpora-Warpora Crossing while attempting to flee from the naka point. A quantity of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession.

In another significant bust at Chijhama Crossing, two individuals—Javid Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Subhan Bhat, and Rayees Ahmad Baba, son of Bashir Ahmad Baba, both residents of Marzipora—were arrested while transporting codeine-based substances in a truck (JK05E-4845), which was also seized.

These arrests are part of Sopore Police’s sustained crackdown on the drug network threatening the lives of local youth.

SSP Sopore, while reaffirming the district police’s commitment, stated:
“These operations underscore our zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling. Let this be a strong message—those involved in the narcotics trade will face strict legal action. With public support, we are determined to rid Sopore of this menace.”

In a significant action aimed at combating the menace of drug trafficking, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and Kupwara, and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A spokesperson said that police party from PS Rajpora during naka checking near Argecheck intercepted a suspicious person. A personal search led to the recovery of 60 grams charas, from his possession. He has been identified as Javaid Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Akbar Mir resident of Pakherpora. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Moreover in Kupwara, a police party of PS Kupwara at a checkpoint established at Main Tikker Kupwara intercepted a suspicious person. During search, a substantial amount of Heroine-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Danish Ahmad Shiekh son of Mohd Yousf Shiekh resident of Tikker Kupwara. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

Srinagar Police Crack House Theft Case, Recover ₹9 Lakh in Stolen Gold and Arrest Three Accused

Srinagar Police have solved a theft case by arresting accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen items from their possession.

As per the police Spokesperson, “Upon receipt of written complaint by one Ghulam Qadir son of Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Pati Brein, Nishat, stating therein that on 19.02.2025, unknown thieves broke into his residence and stole valuable gold items, Police Station Nishat registered case vide FIR No. 10/2025, under relevant sections of law and investigation was initiated.”

During the investigation, tireless efforts of the investigating team, meticulous analysis of information and leveraging technical and digital evidence, the investigating team identified and apprehended three suspects namely Mohd Hafiz Ganie son of Mohd Sultan resident of Shallbugh Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad Ganie son of Mehraj Uddin resident of Asham Sumbal Bandipora and Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Gani resident of Safapora Bandipora.

Based upon their disclosures, the investigating team recovered stolen gold items valued at approximately Rs 9 lakhs, along with an Alto vehicle bearing registration number HR13E-9346 which was used in the commission of the crime.

The investigation is ongoing to recover additional stolen property and uncover further details.

This action by Srinagar Police underscores their commitment in ensuring justice and safeguarding the community.
