In yet another significant move to combat the Drug menace and dismantle the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property worth approximately ₹ 55 Lakhs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The attached property comprises a two-storeyed residential house constructed on 13.5 marlas of land bearing khasra No. 2865, valued at approximately ₹ 55 lakhs, belonging to Khazir Mohammad Tiploo S/o Late Abdul Ahad Tiploo
R/o Dawood Colony Anchaar.

The action pertains to Case FIR No. 85/2024
U/S 8/20, 21, 22 NDPS Act of Police Station Soura, in which the son of the owner of the attached property namely Hilal Ahmad Tiploo R/o Dawood Colony, Anchaar, Soura, has been found to be involved as the accused person.

The accused person is a notorious drug peddler and he has a history of involvement in drug peddling, primarily targeting local youth, thereby posing a grave threat to public health and safety.

Investigations have revealed the aforementioned property was acquired through proceeds from illicit drug trafficking.

Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, Srinagar Police formally seized and attached the immovable property as per the due legal process.

The property cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.

This development marks a decisive step in the broader strategy of Jammu & Kashmir Police to dismantle the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks.

In yet another significant move to combat the drug menace and dismantle the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property worth approximately  ₹ 1.5 Crores under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The attached property comprises a two-storeyed residential house along with 1 kanal 4 marlas land, belonging to Gulzar Ahmad Bhat S/o Late Abdul Rehman Bhat R/o Budoo Bagh Khanyar, Srinagar, as per revenue documents, read an official handout.

“It is in the possession of his son namely Suhail Ahmed Bhat, who is a notorious drug peddler, and he is involved in case FIR No. 55/2022 u/s 8/21, 29 of NDPS Act of Police Station Khanyar.

The accused person has a history of involvement in drug peddling, primarily targeting local youth, thereby posing a grave threat to public health and safety.”

Investigations have revealed the aforementioned property was acquired through proceeds from illicit drug trafficking, read the statement further.

“Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, Srinagar Police formally seized and attached the immovable property as per the due legal process.  The property cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.”

Patwari in Kulgam Caught Red-Handed Accepting ₹23,000 Bribe for Walnut Tree Permission, Arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday said to have trapped and arrested a Patwari from Patwar Halqa Banimulla, Kulgam for demanding and accepting bribe.

A Spokesperson said that Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau received a written complaint, alleging therein that complainant had submitted an application in tehsil Office Pahloo, Kulgam, requesting therein for obtaining permission for cutting of walnut trees, which are situated in the land of complainant.

“Tehsil Office Pahloo, Kulgam forwarded his application to concerned Patwari for report. When the complainant approached the Patwari of Patwar Halqa Banimulla, the Patwari demanded Rs 23000 as bribe from the complainant in lieu of providing favourable report,” he said.

The complainant chose not to pay bribe and instead approached Anti-Corruption Bureau for taking legal action against the Patwari as provided under law. On receipt of the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted which confirmed the demand by the said patwari and accordingly Case FIR No. 02/2025 u/s 7 of P/C Act 1988 was registered in PS ACB Anantnag and investigation was taken up, it added.

During the course of investigation a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught the patwari Mushtaq Ahmad Khatana S/o Mohd Ayoub Khatana R/o Kraloo Kund Kulgam red handed while demanding and accepting bribe. He was arrested on spot by the ACB team. The bribe amount was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team.

Subsequently, the search of residential house of the accused Patwari has been carried out in presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, the statement reads, adding that further investigation of the instant case is going on.

Five Drug Peddlers Arrested in Awantipora and Baramulla; Heroin and Poppy Straw Seized

In continuation of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested five drug peddlers in Awantipora & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Awantipora, a police team of Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Tulbagh Crossing, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Khursheed Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie resident of Khanmoh. During search, 4 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and accordingly, a case vide FIR number 76/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, a police team of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO PS Pampore DySP (P) Shri Shravan Singh at a checkpoint established at Befina road Pampore, intercepted 03 suspicious persons. During search, 10.38 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed Mir son of Abdul Khaliq Mir resident of Kadalbal Pampore, Asrar Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmed Baba resident of Pantha Chowk Srinagar and Muneer Rasool Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Namblabal Pampore. They have been arrested and a case FIR number 77/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation taken up.

Moreover, a police party from Police Station Kreeri headed by SHO PS Kreeri established a checkpoint at Wanigam Payeen. During checking, a scooty bearing registration number JK05J-6187 ridden by Hilal Ahmad Bukhari son of Ab Majeed Bukhari resident of Kreeri was intercepted. Upon search, 1.95 kg of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested and the vehicle was seized. Accordingly, a case under FIR number 57/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kreeri and further investigation is underway.

Police remains steadfast in their commitment to protect the community from the scourge of drugs and urge the public to extend their cooperation by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or abuse.

NCB Busts Drug Racket in South Kashmir, Arrests Ex-Militant and Aide; 39 Kg Poppy Straw Seized

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Srinagar Zone has uncovered a major drug smuggling racket in south Kashmir, along with the arrest of two individuals including a former militant and the seizure of 39 kilograms of poppy straw, as per an official statement.

According to officials, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs and carried out in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag district on July 8 and 9.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Shabir, a resident of Nowshera in Srigufwara, and Amin, a resident of Kanelwan in Bijbehara.

During the initial raid, NCB teams recovered approximately 28 kilograms of poppy straw. Further questioning led to the recovery of an additional 11 kilograms from the residence of Shabir on July 9. Investigations revealed that Shabir is a former member of the banned outfit Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and had been arrested earlier in 1996 on charge of terror-related activities, before he was released in 2004.

Amin, the second accused, also has a history of involvement in narcotics-related crimes. He was previously booked in two NDPS cases: one in 2017 at Police Station Indaura in Himachal Pradesh, and another in Anantnag’s Srigufwara area involving the seizure of 523 kilograms of poppy straw. He is currently out on bail in both cases.

NCB officials said that preliminary findings point to a well-organised narcotics network that sources contraband from local poppy cultivators and transports it across states using illegal routes.

Efforts are underway to trace both backwards and forward linkages of the syndicate to dismantle the broader network involved.

NCB remains committed to disrupting the drug trade and associated activities, protecting the youth from its harmful impact, and finding and ensuring stronger inter-agency coordination across the Union Territory. (ANI)

The accused person has a history of involvement in drug peddling, primarily targeting local youth, thereby posing a grave threat to public health and safety.

Investigations have revealed the aforementioned property was acquired through proceeds from illicit drug trafficking.

Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, Srinagar Police formally seized and attached the immovable property as per the due legal process.

The property cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Pulwama & Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that Police party headed by SHO Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Samboora near Bujibagh Crossing, intercepted two suspicious persons. They have been identified as Shakir Arsheed son of Arsheed Ahmad Bhat resident of Samboora and Muzamil Gul son of Gh Mohd Sheikh resident of Samboora. During search, substantial quantity of contraband substances was recovered from their possession. A case vide FIR No. 75/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated

Meanwhile, acting swiftly on suspicious movement during a checkpoint at New Circular Road near Barpora Crossing, a police team from Police Station Pulwama intercepted and detained an individual identified as Rashid Hussain son of Mohd Yousuf Thoker. During his personal search, the officers recovered 9.90 grams of heroin-like substance. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 166/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been initiated.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Baramulla Police have arrested a woman drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from her possession.

A Spokesperson said that police party from Police Station Sheeri headed by SHO PS Sheeri, had established a checkpoint at STC Sheeri. During checking, a woman identified as Rozia Begum wife of Shabir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Fatehgarh was intercepted. Upon search, 153 grams of a charas-like contraband substance was recovered from her possession. She was immediately arrested.

Accordingly, a case with FIR nr 38/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sheeri and further investigation is underway.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Kulgam Police have arrested 3 drug peddlers including a lady drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A spokesperson said that police party led by IC Police Post Nehama SI Ishfaq Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO DH Pora established a checkpoint near Krishi Vigyan Kendra Pombay Kulgam and during checking one vehicle (Load carrier auto) bearing registration number JK18D-9075 with three persons including a lady on board was intercepted. After search, 8.15 Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Watigam, Kulgam (driver), Raju Singh son of Gurbaksh singh resident of Ludhiana, Punjab and a lady, Kamaljeet Kaur daughter of Santokh Singh resident of Moga, Punjab. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 49/2025 under section 8/15, 29 NDPS act has been registered at police Station DH Pora and investigation has been initiated.

Ahmad Wani R/o Sirgufwara, Anantnag, under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances ( NDPS ) Act.

The accused person is involved in case FIR No. 05/2025 under sections 8/20, 29 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Shaheed Gunj.

The said property has been established as having been acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the immovable property has been formally seized and attached.

The said property has been attached as per proper procedure under law.

The said property shall not be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority.

The accused person has a history of drug peddling and was actively involved in supplying narcotics, especially targeting the local youth, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and safety.

This action is part of J&K Police’s continued crackdown on drug trafficking networks.
