In Shopian, a police party of Police Station Imamsahib at a checkpoint established at Manihal crossing, intercepted a suspicious person. During search, charas like substance (06 Sticks) weighing approximately 245 grams was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Allai resident of Melhura Zainapora. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 37/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib, and investigation has been initiated.

In Awantipora, a police party of Police Station Khrew at a checkpoint established at Kharchek Sharshalli road, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone son of Mohd Maqbool Lone resident of Sharshalli. During his personal search, 1.183 kg of Bang Choora was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and a case FIR No. 90/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khrew, and investigation has been set into motion.

 Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday held five drug peddlers in south Kashmir areas and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police spokesperson said that a police party from Police Station Pampore, headed by SHO PS Pampore under the close supervision of SDPO Pampore during routine patrolling at Chandhara Nambal, intercepted three suspicious persons. During their personal search, police party recovered 8 kilograms and 925 grams of charas powder from their possession. The accused persons have been identified as Raiees Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh. Mohammad Sheikh & Prince Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir both residents of Chandhara, Manzoor Khan son of Farooq Khan resident of Drangbal Pampore. Similarly in Pulwama, a police party of Police Station Kakapora at a checkpoint established at Okhoo Kakapora, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Abdul Majeed Wani, son of Gh Ahmad Wani, a resident of Nihama. During search, 2.765 kilograms of bang boosa like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 71/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kakapora and investigation has been initiated.

Furthermore, in Shopian, a police party of Police Station Zainapora, at a checkpoint established at Maldera Zainapora, intercepted a vehicle (Wagnor) bearing registration number JK18-6181 driven by Umar Maqbool Parra resident of Humhona Nagbal Zainapora. During the search, search of the vehicle charas like substance weighing approximately 1.326 kgs were recovered from the vehicle. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 108/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized.

A  spokesperson said that Police team from Police Post Noorbagh, while conducting routine naka checking at Waniyar Noorbagh, intercepted an e-Riksha bearing registration number JK01AV-0593 moving towards Safakadal.

During the search of the vehicle, 1500 grams of charas were recovered. Upon the personal search of the driver, an additional 70 grams of charas were recovered from his possession.

The driver has been identified as Waheed Ahmad Zaroo, son of Mohd Ramzan Zaroo, resident of Gagarzoo Guzarbal Noorbagh.

In this connection, Case FIR No. 128/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Safakadal and the accused person has been arrested.

Further investigation into the case is going on.

A police spokesperson said that acting on specific information, Police Station Zainapora registered a case under FIR No. 98/2025 and obtained a search warrant from the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Shopian. A team from Police Station Zainapora accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, raided the house of Ainaul Ul Huda Dar, resident of Darbagh. During the search, 1.164Kgs of charas-like substance was seized.

A Police spokesperson said that During routine naka checking at Melhura Zainapora, two women moving under suspicious circumstances while carrying large bags were intercepted by the naka party. Upon search of these bags, 15 Kgs of crushed Cannabis and 1 Kg of Charas-like substance were recovered.

The accused have been identified as Rubeena Akhtar, resident of Rakhi Litter Pulwama, and Nargis Jan, resident of Kawani Dagripora Pulwama.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 92/2025 under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Zainapora. Investigation has been initiated to trace the forward and backward linkages and to unearth the broader network involved in the trade.

A police spokesperson, in a statement, said that a police party led by IC PP Mirbazar during naka checking at Furrah Bypass, Mirbazar intercepted one suspicious person identified as Nadeem Manzoor Naikoo son of Manzoor Ahmad Naikoo resident of Pati Akhran, Nowpora carrying a bag.

In a press statement, a police spokesperson said that a police party from Police Station Qaimoh set up naka checking and frisking of suspicious persons and vehicles at Khudwani Bypass. During the checking, a person—Talib Hussain Sheikh, son of Khurshid Hussain Sheikh, resident of KG Raina, Wanpoh—carrying a bag and behaving suspiciously was intercepted. Upon search, 30 grams of Charas and 500 grams of ground Cannabis-like contraband substances were recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot.

Regarding the incident, case with FIR No. 79/2025 U/S 8/20 of NDPS Act stands registered in the Police Station Qaimoh and investigation is in progress, he addded.

It is pertinent to mention, police said, that such drug peddlers are hellbent on destroying the life of common people particularly the young generation by spreading the drugs in the society. The general public is once again requested to cooperate with the kulgam police in the crusade against drug menace in the district.

In a statement, the police said that acting on specific information, Police Station Chadoora received a tip-off regarding three individuals — Ghulam Rasool Wani, Mohd Altaf Wani, and Gh. Nabi Wani (sons of Ghulam Mohd Wani), residents of Chitru Dangerpora — who had allegedly concealed a large quantity of charas-like substance in their residential house.

A police team from Police Station Chadoora, under the supervision of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class, conducted a search of the said location. During the operation, 27 nylon bags containing charas-like substance weighing about 325 kgs were recovered. The contraband was sealed and seized on the spot as per due procedure.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 181/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation is underway.
