J&K Police Arrests 08 Drug Peddlers Across Kashmir; Contraband Substance Recovered

Continuing its efforts to combat the menace of drugs in the society, Police on Wednesday have arrested 08 drug peddlers in several districts of Kashmir valley and recovered contraband/ psychotropic substances from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that police party from Police Station Pattan, led by SHO Police Station Pattan at a checkpoint established near Railway Crossing Pattan intercepted a vehicle (Ertiga) bearing registration number JK05M-8404 with 03 persons onboard. They have been identified as Jhon Mohd Mir son of Gh Mohd Mir and Mohd Yaqoob Mir son of Late Ab Aziz, both residents of Nillah Palpora, Faisal Ahmad Hajam son of Gh Qadir, resident of Pushwari Anantnag. During search, 78 grams of contraband charas in powder form was recovered from their possession. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has been seized.

Meanwhile, a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Cement Bridge Baramulla, intercepted a suspicious person. He has been identified as Ikhlas Noor son of Noor Din Khan resident of Baghi Rehmat Sopore. During search, 40 strips of banned tablets was recovered from his possession.

Moreover, a police party of Police Post Kalaroos during routine naka checking near Higher Secondary School Kalaroos apprehended a suspicious individual identified as Javid Ahmed Lone son of Abdul Khaliq Lone, resident of Lashtiyal Kalaroos. During search, 4 grams of a brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession.

In another action, Police Station Awantipora received reliable information regarding presence of contraband substance in a residential house at Larkipora. Accordingly, a police party of Police Station Awantipora led by SHO Police Station Awantipora along with Tehsildar Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora raided the said house. During the search, 20.500 Kgs of charas like substance has been recovered from the residential house belonging to a lady namely Fareeda Akhter resident of Larkipora.

In Pulwama, a police party of Police Station Litter at a checkpoint established near Arihal crossing intercepted two suspicious persons. During search, around 82 grams of brown-sugar like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Rather son of Gulzar Ahmad Rather resident of Kanjipora Lajoora and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat resident of Malangpora Pulwama.

All the accused have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Police in Handwara have attached two story building comprising of two shops and one Hall belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Reyaz Ahmad Lone son of Sonullah Lone resident of Badrah Payeen under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985.

The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Kralgund Police Station. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking of Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances by the owner. The said notorious drug peddler was involved in case FIR No. 84/2020 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station Kralgund. The notorious drug peddler is currently under detention at Kot-bhalwal Jammu under PIT-NDPS Act.

This operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immoveable properties which has been raised/ used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddler in the Police District Handwara.

 Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Srinagar have seized vehicle acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade.

Srinagar Police has seized vehicle bearing registration no. JK01J 7081 from two drug peddlers namely Asif Ahmad Sheikh and Arif Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Babapora Barthana. Both the accused persons have been arrested vide case FIR no.136/2024 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Parimpora and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.

During financial investigation of the case, it came to fore that the vehicle was acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade by these accused persons.

The seizure of vehicle has been made under the provisions of section 68 of NDPS Act.

J&K Police reiterates its commitment in eradicating the drug menace and dismantling the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking.

 Srinagar Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler Haris Farooq and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police party of Police Station Nowhatta during naka checking near Islamia College apprehended an individual under suspicious circumstances. The suspected person has been identified as Haris Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Hakabazar Badamwari. During search, SpasmoProxyvon capsules were recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 56/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and further investigation initiated.

In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A spokesperson said that police party of Police Post Watergam headed by IC PP Watergam under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shri. Aabid Rashid Mir-JKPS and SHO PS Dangiwacha during patrolling at Yedipora Lorihama arrested one notorious drug peddler namely Bilal Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Rashid Lone resident of Lorihama Rafiabad. During search, Police Party was able to recover 80 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus from his possession.

In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha & investigation has been initiated.

Police urges the common masses to give information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112. Srinagar Police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Nowhatta during a routine naka checking at Malkha Chowk, Nowhatta intercepted a suspicious person. He has been identified as Sajad Sheikh, son of Baktawar Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Colony, Hawal.

During search, approximately 3.370 kilograms of charas powder-like substance and 20 grams of charas was recovered from his possession and he has been arrested.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Awantipora Police arrested 03 drug peddlers and recovered charas like substance from their possession.

A Police spokesperson said, “During naka checking at Hatiwara Awantipora, police party of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO PS Awantipora Insp. khalid Fayaz intercepted 03 persons in suspicious condition,when police party signalled them to stop they tried to flee from the spot but police party apprehended them tactfully.

“During search, 65 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Danish Rasheed Bhat S/O Ab Rasheed Bhat R/o Lethpora, Danish Ashraf Dar S/o Mohd Ashraf R/o Lethpora and Umer Rasool Dar s/o Gh. Rasool Dar R/o Lethpora.

He said that Case FIR number 168/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation taken up.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Srinagar have seized two vehicles acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade.

Srinagar Police have seized two vehicles ;Corolla bearing registration number DL4CNE 6086 and BMW bearing registration number JK01AF-0047 in case FIR No. 36/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station Chanapora from the accused person namely Mudasir Ahmad Wani son of Gulam Rasool Wani resident of Stadium Colony, Chanapora.

The seizure of vehicles acquired by illegal means through narcotics trafficking has been made under the provisions of 68 NDPS Act.

Reinforcing the ongoing efforts against drug peddlers/smugglers, Srinagar Police has attached properties worth more than 3 crores belonging to drug peddlers under the provisions of section 68 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.”

Srinagar Police has attached a three-storied residential house of a drug peddler namely Abdul Ahad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat resident of Banpora Batamaloo on land bearing Khewat No.137 and Khasra No.294 (Abadi Deh) at Banpora Batamaloo worth Rs 65 lakhs under section 68 of NDPS Act in case FIR No. 31 of 2024. The accused person is a notorious drug peddler who sold drugs among the youth upon which case FIR No.31/2024 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj, where a substantial amount of narcotics was recovered.

In another case, a three-storied residential house situated at H. No. 18, Umer Lane Azad Basti, under Survey no. 1764 estimated at a value of Rs 2.5 crores, belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Bhat father of Jan Manzoor Bhat resident of Natipora, was attached under section 68(F) of NDPS Act. The accused person namely Jan Manzoor Bhat is also a drug peddler who peddled narcotics among the youth of the area upon which case FIR No. 35/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Chanapora.”

Both the aforementioned properties were acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade. Consequently, these have been attached subject to the confirmation from the competent authority and administrator, SAFEMA and NDPSA.

In compliance to section 68 E and 68 F of NDPS Act, the immovable property acquired by the accused persons through illegal means seized or attached, shall not be transferred/sold/purchased or otherwise dealt with without the prior permission of the competent authority.

This decisive action underscores the unwavering commitment of J&K Police in eradicating the drug menace and dismantling the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking.
