A Spokesperson said that police party of Police Station Handwara during patrolling at Herpora Handwara apprehended one person identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Sultan Dar @Jungli resident of Lachipora Handwara. During his search, 08 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 11/25 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation set into motion.

Police in Srinagar successfully busted a major drug racket, arresting two drug peddlers and seizing 10 kilograms of heroin, allegedly smuggled from Pakistan, valued at over Rs 32 crores.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Imtiyaz Hussain, revealed that the recovery—one of the biggest so far—was made from a Tata Sumo intercepted at a checkpoint at Barthana crossing. During a routine checkpoint by a team from Police Post Qamarwari, the Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK05D-1837 was searched, revealing six kilograms of heroin concealed beneath the driver’s seat, and an additional two kilograms on the suspects.

The arrested individuals were identified as Anas Ajaz Awan from Dildar Tangdar, Kupwara, and Zahid Ahmad Sheikh from Channipora, Tangdar, Kupwara. Preliminary investigations indicated that the narcotics were part of a cross-border drug trafficking network from Pakistan.

The SSP assured the public of their commitment to eradicating drugs from society and issued a stern warning to those involved in drug trafficking. The seized narcotics and vehicle were confiscated as evidence, and Case FIR No. 03/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered. Further investigation is underway to dismantle the syndicate and identify all individuals involved.

The police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, pledging to bring all those involved in such criminal activities to justice with the full force of the law.

Police Arrests Multiple Accused Persons in Drug Trafficking Operations in Srinagar; Recover Substantial Narcotics

In its continuing resolute operation against the drug menace in society, a Police team of Police Station M.R. Gunj, during a routine naka checking at Syed Mansoor Zaldagar stopped an auto bearing registration no. JK01H-9826. The individuals on board have been identified as Waseem Bashir Sheikh (driver) son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh & Uzma Wasim (passenger) wife of Waseem Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Hamdania Colony Bemina. During search, substantial quantity of narcotic substances was recovered from their possession.

During the course of investigation led by SHO MR Ganj, it came to fore that the married couple used their rickshaw and family cover to deceive authorities while selling narcotics among the youth. Both the accused persons have been arrested.

In this connection, case under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered in PS M.R. Ganj and further investigation initiated.

Moreover, on 03/01/2025, a Police team from Police Station Zadibal at a checkpoint established at Sazgaripora, arrested a drug peddler identified as Waseem Ahmad Bafanda son of Ghulam Ahmad resident of Dangerpora Mallabagh Hazratbal.During search, officers recovered substantial quantity of contraband substance and ?3,020 from his possession. Accordingly, case under NDPS Act was registered in PS Zadibal.

During further investigation, two more individuals identified as Waqar Ahmad Duloo @ Koter son of Late Mohammad Rafiq Duloo resident of Govt. Housing Colony Ellahi Bagh Srinagar and Mohammad Rafiq Pattoo son of Ali Mohammad Pattoo resident of Shah Mohalla Ahmad Nagar, were arrested along with substantial quantity of contraband substances.

Anantnag Police Attach Property of Khurshid Ahmad Dar Linked to Drug Trafficking

In a significant action against Drug trafficking and its financial networks, Anantnag Police has attached the Double-storey Residential house of *Khurshid Ahmad Dar* , son of Abdul Gani Dar, resident of Satkipora.

The property, built on 1 Kanal of land and valued at approximately ₹1 crore, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. The house has been linked to proceeds of Drug trafficking.

The accused is implicated in a major narcotics case registered under FIR No. 47/2019 at Police Station Srigufwara, involving the recovery of substantial quantities of contraband substances.

This decisive step underscores Anantnag Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace and dismantling the economic framework supporting illegal narcotics trade. The action aims to deter criminal activities and protect society from the adverse effects of drug abuse.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police in Awantipora arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that police party of Police Station Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore at a checkpoint established at Literbal Pampore near gas plant intercepted 02 suspicious persons.They have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Salam resident of Tulbagh Pampore and Javid Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Akram Dar resident of Lalpora Chatlam. During search, 840 grams of grinded Cannabis like substance was recovered from their possession .

Both the accused have been arrested. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 3/2025 under relevant section of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Pampore.

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

A Police spokesperson said, Continuing its fight against the menace of drugs in society, Police team of Police Post Tengpora during naka checking in Tengpora near Flood Channel, apprehended two suspicious persons namely Love Kumar and Vipin Kumar, both residents of Delhi.

Upon search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from their possession.

In this connection, Case FIR No. 140/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Batmaloo and investigation initiated.

During the course of investigation, upon the disclosure of the accused persons, more quantity of contraband substance was recovered in the instant case.Both the accused persons have been arrested and further investigation is going on.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Baramulla Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party from Police Station Boniyar, headed by SHO PS Boniyar, intercepted a suspect at a checkpoint established at Bela Crossing Boniyar. The individual was identified as Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Tariq Ahmad, a resident of Hundi Nowshera. During the search, 50 grams of a charas-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He was subsequently arrested.

A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Boniyar, and an investigation has been initiated.

During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had procured the contraband from a woman identified as Shameema Begum, wife of Mohd Maqbool Sheikh, a resident of Lari Kasi Boniyar.

Acting on this lead, a police team, accompanied by the concerned magistrate, conducted a search of the woman’s residence. The operation resulted in the recovery of 62 grams of charas-like contraband substance and 1 kg of charas powder. The accused woman was promptly arrested, and further investigations are underway to uncover the broader nexus of this illegal activity.

Crackdown on Drug Abuse: Drug Peddler Zubair Sultan Lone Arrested in Handwara, Contraband Substance Recovered

In a significant move to counter the growing menace of drug abuse, Police in Handwara arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Spokesperson said that a Police party of Police Post Magam during night patrolling in Devaspora Magam intercepted a suspicious person identified as Zubair Sultan Lone son of Mohammad Sultan Lone resident of Khanbal Handwara. During search, 12 grams of Heroin was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he has been arrested and a case under relevant provisions of law was registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated.

In significant achievement, Srinagar Police has solved a case of extortion and physical assault with the arrest of three individuals involved in the commission of crime.

On 23/12/2024, an individual namely Gh Mohiuddin son of Gh Hassan Sheikh resident a resident of Firdous Abad Batamaloo, approached PS Maisuma in an injured condition and submitted a written complaint stating therein that on 21st/22nd December, at around 0200 hours, while he was enroute to Budshah Chowk for sanitation work, he was wrongfully restrained by a group of assailants.

The miscreants physically assaulted him and forcibly took some cash from his wallet before fleeing the scene.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 30/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Maisuma and investigation initiated.

Through meticulous efforts, including analysis of CCTV footage and other technical evidence, the investigating team arrested the individuals involved in the commission of crime. They have been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar @ Ish Mut son of Khursheed Ahmad Dar resident of Nishat Khaki Mohalla, Srinagar, Tahir Ahmad Mir @ 90, son of Sonaullah Mir resident of Bangladesh Colony Rainawari, A/P Palpora Noorbagh, Srinagar and Arsalan Mushtaq Wandroo @ Karihul, son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Hasibath Rainawari, Srinagar.

Cyber Cell Ganderbal Recovers INR 16 Lakhs in Stolen Phones, Accounts for INR 17 Lakhs in Fraud

With the view of taking forward the mantle of curbing cyber crimes, Cyber Cell Ganderbal has accounted for INR 17 lakhs with regards to financial frauds and recovered Missing/Lost Smart Cell-Phones worth INR 16 Lakhs in just 09 months.

Since its inception from the March of 2024, Cyber Cell Ganderbal recovered 87 Mobile Phones from different places which were either lost or stolen, out of which 74 mobile phones were handed over to their legal owners and remaining 13 mobile phones were handed over today , which in toto amounts to INR 16 Lakhs.

Moreover with regards to financial fraud cases, cyber cell Ganderbal accounted for 17 Lakhs INR out of which 3,78,527 INR has been already credited to victims’ account.

Further, more than 56 cases regarding Blackmailing and social media account hacking have been resolved and victims of these crimes have breathed a sigh of relief.

A small and quaint meeting was conducted today wherein 13 mobile phones were distributed to the victims who thanked the efforts of Ganderbal Police.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ganderbal assured 100 percent efforts in curbing the cyber crimes and requested the public to come forward with complaints and assured that it will be dealt with all sincerity and sensitivity.
