The videos were reportedly related to a recent protest held over the ongoing situation in the Middle East. Police said the content was allegedly intended to provoke youth and the general public, which could pose a threat to public order.
Officials stated that sharing such unverified and provocative content on social media can create panic among people, disturb peace, and negatively affect communal harmony in the area.
Following the incident, police registered FIR No. 23/2026 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Chadoora, and an investigation into the matter has been started.
Budgam Police have appealed to the public to avoid sharing unverified or inflammatory content on social media. They also urged citizens to cooperate with authorities in maintaining peace, order, and communal harmony in the district.
