The nomination process for the Budgam and Nagrota assembly constituencies began on Monday, following the issuance of two separate notifications by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
According to the notifications, copies of which are with Kashmir News Observer (KNO), candidates can submit their nomination papers until October 20 for 27-Budgam and 77-Nagrota constituencies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on October 22, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed for October 24.
Voting for both constituencies is scheduled to be held on November 11, and the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
The Budgam seat fell vacant on October 21, 2024, after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chose to retain the Ganderbal constituency, having won from both seats in the 2024 Assembly elections. The Nagrota seat was vacated following the demise of BJP MLA Devinder Singh Rana on October 31, 2024.
