Srinagar Jan 15 : The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Mahila Congress President Shameema Raina today felicitated newly appointed Office bearers and District Mahila Congress Presidents of Kashmir province at Srinagar Party office.
In an extraordinary meeting of newly appointed Office Bearers and District Presidents of Mahila Congress of Kashmir province, J&K Mahila Congress President Shameema Raina while felicitating the Office bearers laid strong emphasis over rejuvenating the organization at booth level and urged them to get connected with the people at grass  ensuring that their problems are highlighted for resolution.
Raina also urged the office bearers to work shoulder to shoulder with Parent body and other Frontal Organizations ensuring that Congress Party defeats the falsehood and other upcoming challenges adding that Mahila Congress is an important part of the Congress Party, which has always remained at the forefront to contribute towards serving people and strengthening the party in whatever circumstances.
Raina expressed confidence that the new team under the leadership of All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba will work vigorously to strengthen the organization and reach the nook and corner of J&K with the party’s programmes and pro people policies.
On this occasion Raina expressed gratitude to All India Mahila President Alka Lamba for reconstitution of State body soon after taking over as President All India Mahila Congress.

Commissioner SMC reviews progress of NCAP projects

The Commissioner SMC/CEO, SSCL, Dr. Owais Ahmed today held a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of projects falling under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP).
During the meeting, Commissioner SMC meticulously reviewed all ongoing projects for the fiscal year 2023-2024, with a primary focus on evaluating the status of projects under NCAP.
Dr. Owais emphasized the need to proactively pursue the implementation of the mission and issued strict directives to all concerned officials to ensure the effective and timely execution of the projects.
The meeting was attended by officials from various departments, including FA/CAO SMC, Executive Engineer R&B, Executive Engineer City Roads, ADP, SMC CSO, SMC, as well as Senior Officers from R&B, Urban Forestry, and SMC at the Meeting Hall of Commissioner SMC

Go Green campaign launched in Aishmuqam Anantnag

Director Go Green Aishmuqam/Anantnag Chapter of J&K Eco-Watch Sofi Arafat, under the aegis of J&K Eco-Watch launched Go Green Aishmuqam campaign with a plantation drive at Ziyarat Shareef Aishmuqam.
According to a statement the campaign is the maiden activity in collaboration with Greater Aishmuqam Civil Society headed by Shahnawaz Shah, J&K Forest deptt, J&K Waqf Board, Sakhie Sports Association, Volunteers Sofi Sajad, Ovase Haji, Shiekh Aamir, Chief Coordinator Suhail Farooq and officials of various departments.
The campaign is aimed at sustainable ecology and environment conservation under the guidance of J&K Eco-Watch and Adv Nadeem Qadri Amicus Curaie of High Court. 
More programmes and projects to follow and this year a target of planting 1000 Deodar and coniferous saplings. 
Sofi Arafat, on the occasion briefed the media about the initiative and its sustainability to counter global warming and climate change. 
He further said that a series of campaigns under the initiative shall take place in future and today is just a beginning of a great and noble cause.

Strong Actions being Initiated Against Terrorism in Rajouri-Poonch: Lt Gen Dwivedi

Srinagar, Jan 14 : The Northern Army Commander, Lt General Upendera Dwivedi, conveyed a resolute stance against terrorists in the Rajouri-Poonch belt, emphasizing both direct and indirect actions to curb their activities and restore peace.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, he underscored the importance of collaborative efforts among various security agencies, stating, “We have started to take strong actions in this regard, and you will see that there will be control over it in the coming days.” Lt General Dwivedi acknowledged the socio-economic progress in the region, mentioning increased investments and employment opportunities while highlighting the disruptive role of neighboring elements, stating, “Our neighboring country was not able to digest the peace and prosperity, and so they are promoting terrorism in the area.”
Deeming the northern border area sensitive, the Commander declared 2023 as a “zero-infiltration year,” demonstrating a commitment to prevent infiltration from the Line of Control. Providing statistics on terrorist activities, he revealed, “If you see, among the terrorists that have been killed, only 21 are locals, whereas 55 are foreign terrorists.” Despite facing challenges, Lt General Dwivedi expressed confidence in control measures, assuring, “We will continue to ensure that local terrorist recruitment is plugged.” 
Acknowledging the sacrifices of security forces, he emphasized, “We are ensuring to further strengthen the synergy among various security agencies,” underscoring the ongoing commitment to peace, stability, and countering terrorism in the region

JK artists enthrall audience in National Youth Festival

MAHARASHTRA JANUARY 14 : The stunning performances of artists from Jammu and Kashmir at National Youth Festival underway at Nashik in Maharashtra made the audience spellbound while receiving standing ovations.
The Dogri song and Bansuri vadan fetched attention of the audience as well as Judges and attracted biggest ever crowd in the festival in which thousands of youth from all over the country are exhibiting their talent  performing in competitive as well as thematic events.
Earlier, after the inauguration of National Youth Festival by Prime Minister on 12th Jan, the J&K stall of local Handicrafts under Yuvakriti was highly appreciated by the visitors.
Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Suram Chand Sharma, who is Nodal Officer National Youth Festival, also joined the JK Contingent  at Nasik and camping there for encouragement of participants besides monitoring the UT event. The Festival will culminate on 16th of Jan 2024.

DGP interacts with Kupwara Police personnel; Participates in Bara Khana Programme

Srinagar, Jan 14 :Provide excellent police services, work closely with public, maintain a strong system of accountability, transparency, and help in providing justice to people who seek your assistance. The was advised by the Director General of Police, J&K, R R.Swain to officers and Jawans of J&K police during Bara Khana at District Police Lines Kupwara this evening. The Bara Khana among others was attended by DIG North Kashmir Range, Vivek Gupta, SSP Baramulla Amod Nagpure, SSP Handwara Dawood Ayoub, SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas, SSP Traffic Kashmir R P Singh, CO IRP 4th Bn. Showkat Ahmad Dar, and AIG T&P Manoj Kumar Pandith. All gazetted & Non Gazetted officers and jawans of the Kupwara district participated in the programme.

In his address, the DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police, has tremendous responsibilities on its shoulders. As the primary law enforcement agency in the region, the force is entrusted with safeguarding public safety, maintaining law and order, and ensuring that the public receives top-notch policing services. He said that people in tough times visit Police Stations with a hope that their problems and issues will be solved, it is then an opportunity and a crucial role for Police officers to ensure justice, he added. Police as an enforcement agency has a great duty of helping people get justice, DGP said adding that the force is entrusted with immense responsibility and it must act within the boundaries of law and uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

He directed the officers and Jawans to work closely with the public and maintain strong system of accountability and transparency. He impressed upon them to be committed in safeguarding and promoting the overall well-being of the society. He said that J&K Police as a crucial component of administration has to work tirelessly to protect the citizens against violence, crime, and other nefarious activities. With a diverse range of roles and responsibilities, we have to ensure that law is applied fairly and equally to all. He said that critical aspect of the Police’s role is to provide public services, such as traffic management, emergency response etc. The Police are often the first point of contact for the public, and the force is relied upon to provide prompt and effective assistance in times of need. By offering these services, we have to demonstrate the commitment to serving the public and promoting the well-being of the community.

The DGP also directed for identifying the officials who have been put in best efforts in ensure better service and justice to the public who he said would be acknowledged and rewarded. The DGP J&K also listened to the grievances and requests of Police personnel and directed for the redressal. In his welcome address, the IGP Kashmir Zone Shri V. K. Birdi welcomed all the officers & jawans for participating in the bara khana adding that this dinner is being organised on the directions of the DGP J&K.

He informed the personnel that DGP J&K has been very much keen to visit the district Kupwara and listen to the issues of citizens and also interact with the jurisdictional officers and jawans. IGP Kashmir said that J&K Police personnel are known as cutting edge level Police personnel and the work of J&K Police is being appreciated at all different levels. He said that subordinate staff or jawans are the backbone and source of energy of any force. He said that J&K Police is facing different challenges whether working in harsh winter weather or fighting internal security or performing normal duties and added that the force is facing every challenge with fortitude

Police arrests 04 drug peddlers in Baramulla; Contraband substances recovered

Baramulla January 13 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Chandoosa headed by SHO PS Chandoosa at a checkpoint established at Walraman Chandoosa, intercepted two persons identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Gh Nabi resident of Chakloo A/P Najibhat Kreeri & Mohd Altaf Sofi son of Abdul Aziz resident of Chakloo Baramulla. During search, 40 grams of Heroin was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Chandoosa where they remain in custody.
Similarly, a Police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO PS Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Dhobiwan Barzulla, intercepted a vehicle (Sumo) bearing registration number JK05B-0134 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Hilal Ahmad Wani & Bilal Ahmad Wani sons of Gh Nabi, both residents of Barzulla Kunzer. During search, 510 grams of Charas & 11 Syrups of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Kunzer where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law

Director Horticulture Kashmir Empowers Farmers in Kulgam: Advances in Horticultural Practices and Schemes Unveiled

On January 13, G R Mir, Director of Horticulture Kashmir, made a significant visit to the Kulgam district, actively participating in a training and awareness camp organized by the Department of Horticulture Kulgam. The venue for this event was the Conference Hall of the DC Office Kulgam, attracting the presence of key figures such as the Chief Horticulture Officer Kulgam, Subject Matter Specialist Kulgam, and various other officers and officials from the department. Additionally, a substantial number of orchardists attended the camp.

The primary aim of the camp was to empower local farmers by providing them with valuable insights into the latest horticultural schemes and technological advancements. The program specifically focused on disseminating information about noteworthy Union Territory and centrally sponsored schemes, including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), High-Density Plantation Scheme, and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).

A crucial element of the event was a technical guidance session conducted by experts from the Department. The session aimed to equip farmers with the necessary knowledge to enhance their horticultural practices, reflecting a commitment to fostering skill development in the agricultural community.

In his address, Director Horticulture emphasized the department’s vision and ongoing initiatives, underscoring the pivotal role of horticulture in driving overall development in the region. He brought attention to the sector’s potential for growth and sustainability. Furthermore, he urged farmers to seize the full advantage of the departmental schemes currently in place. Anantnag Police recovered huge consignment of Contraband substance, case registered

AnantnagJanuary 13 : Anantnag Police received an information through reliable sources that a family comprising Father, Mother and Son namely Mohd Ramzan Ganai S/O Gh Rasool Ganie, Shahzada Akhter W/O Mohd Ramzan Ganie and Zubair Ramzan Ganai S/ O Mohd Ramzan  Ganie R/O Seer Hamdan Mattan under a well planned criminal conspiracy are continuously indulging in illegal trade of illicit alcohol as well as of cannabis charas powder.Reliable sources also revealed that the trio has concealed huge quantity of illicit alcohol as well as illicit cannabis charas powder in specially made hideouts in their residiential house, Swift  Dzire Car, Baleno car and Motor Cycle. In this regard a Case FIR No. 04/2024 U/S 8/20,29 NDPS act and 48,50 Excise Act was registered in Police Station Mattan. A search team comprising of Anantnag Police and Executive Magistrate concerned was constituted who carried out the search of the house. During searching search party recovered about 9.27 Kgs of  Charas powder and 867 Bottles of illicit alcohol which was seized on spot. All three accused persons were arrested ;  Vehicles Swift Dzire, Baleno car, KTM Motorcycle and cash of Rs. 13325 was seized. Further investigation in the instant case continues. 
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding Drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in Drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law. Our consistent actions against Drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of Drug Menace

DGP J&K Expresses Warm Lohri Wishes to Citizens, Police Personnel, Forces, and Honors Families of Courageous Martyrs

Jammu January 13 :  On the occasion of the vibrant festival of Lohri, the Director General of Police, J&K R.R Swain has extended heartfelt greetings to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, J&K Police personnel & security forces and families of braveheart martyrs.
In his message the DGP said that the Lohri festival marks the end of winter and the arrival of longer days in this part of the country and it is a time of joy, togetherness, and a reminder of the importance of unity and harmony in our diverse society. May the bonfires of Lohri illuminate our lives with warmth, and may the year be filled with peace and prosperity for all, he prayed.
