Rescue Operation Recovers Three Bodies from Tubewell Trench in Budgam District

All three bodies were recovered from the tubewell trench in Gotipora village of Khansahib tehsil in Budgam district, officials reported on Wednesday.

An official stated, “Special teams from SDRF, NDRF, Budgam Police, and the Indian Army recovered the bodies of three individuals who fell into a tubewell this morning, prompting a rescue operation.”

“After more than six hours, all the bodies were retrieved and taken to the hospital for further formalities,” he added.

Earlier, two men fell into the tubewell while trying to rescue a man who had accidentally slipped into it, officials said.

No Decision on Summer Vacations for Kashmir Schools: Director of School Education

On Wednesday, Tasaduk Hussain Itoo, the Director of School Education for Kashmir, announced that no decision has been made regarding summer vacations for schools in the Kashmir Valley.

Citing the current pleasant weather as a key factor, Itoo indicated that there are no plans to alter school timings either.

During a visit to a private school in Nagbal, in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Itoo spoke to the media, stating that the administration will only consider summer vacations if there is an extraordinary heat surge. “We have not decided yet about the summer vacation in Kashmir because the weather is pleasant,” he remarked.

Itoo also emphasized the importance of continuing education at this time. “There is a need to teach children now, and when the time comes, it will be decided whether to take a summer vacation,” he explained.

He reassured that school timings would remain unchanged, as the current weather conditions are favorable and not excessively hot.

This announcement has come as a relief to many parents and educators who were concerned about potential disruptions to the academic schedule.

Baramulla Police Affix GPS Tracking Device on Bail-Granted Terror Associate

In compliance with a court order, police in Baramulla have placed a GPS tracking device on an under-trial terror associate who was released on bail in a UA(P) case from Police Station Uri.

The accused, arrested under FIR No 104/2023, faces charges under sections 13, 18, 18B, 20, 23, 40 of the UA(P) Act, 120B IPC, and 7/25 Arms Act of Police Station Uri. He has been released on bail by the court.The GPS anklet will monitor the movement of the terror associate to ensure compliance with bail conditions.

Previously, Kupwara Police in J-K used GPS tracker anklets to monitor terror accused out on bail. Kupwara police were the first in Kashmir Zone to use GPS anklets on bail-out accused in a narcotics-related case.The ASJ Court Kupwara, granting bail in an FIR, ordered GPS anklets for accused Abdul Majid Bhat and Aabid Ali Bhat for better surveillance of their movements.

Following the court order, the Kupwara Police team, led by ASP GM Bhat, Deputy SP Ameen Bhat, and SHO Kupwara Inspector Ishaq, deployed GPS anklets for close monitoring of the accused. (ANI)

Jammu and Kashmir Police Seize Properties of Terror Handlers in Baramulla

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have taken a significant step in combating terrorism by attaching properties belonging to two terror handlers in Baramulla. The attached properties, totaling 3 Kanals and 19 Marlas of land and valued at lakhs of rupees, are owned by Jalal Din, son of Raj Mohd, residing in Zamboor Pattan, and Mohd Saki, son of Mastana Bhatti, residing in Kamalkote Uri. Both individuals are reportedly based in Pakistan.

This action was carried out under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code and is linked to a case under Sections 7 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act and 4(III) of the TADA Act.

According to officials, the properties were identified during an investigation or inquiry conducted by the police. The police have emphasized that this operation reaffirms their commitment to combatting terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the region.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the army’s 160 TA and Kupwara police. The thorough search yielded a significant cache of weaponry, ammunition, and war-related equipment from a terrorist hideout.

The recovered items, described by the official, include four AK-Magazines, 1450 rounds of AK-ammunition, 190 rounds of sniper ammunition, two pistols with magazines, along with various other items such as ammunition pouches, binoculars, walkie-talkies, and a cigarette packet – all traced back to Pakistan.
