 Naib Tehsildar of Pahalgam, Ovais Amir, was suspended on Saturday for leaving his station without permission.

According to the order issued by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, “Sh. Ovais Amir, Naib Tehsildar Pahalgam, is hereby placed under suspension for leaving the station without permission and sabotaging the ongoing SANJY 2024.”

Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate Kokernag shall enquire into the matter for noncompliance of the Naib Tehsildar and the suspendee shall remain attached with his office during the period of his suspension, the order added.

Warm Welcome for First Batch of Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims in Srinagar

In a warm display of hospitality, the initial group of Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims were welcomed by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, upon their arrival at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar on Friday.

The first contingent of pilgrims partaking in the revered Amarnath Yatra received a hearty reception from local officials.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Ashish Kumar Mishra, along with other civil and police representatives, were present to extend their greetings to the pilgrims.

“The Amarnath Yatra is a momentous event for us, and we are dedicated to ensuring the safety and comfort of all pilgrims,” remarked DC Srinagar Dr. Bilal. “We embrace all the devotees with open hearts and are here to support them throughout their journey,” he added.

The district administration has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the Yatra proceeds smoothly. These extensive preparations include heightened security, medical facilities, and logistical support to meet the pilgrims’ needs, the DC mentioned.

He assured that pilgrims can undertake their spiritual journey to the Amarnath cave with confidence, knowing that local authorities are devoted to their safety and well-being.

Director General of Police Visits Amarnath Yatra Base Camps for Security Assessment

The Director General of Police, J&K R.R. Swain inspected Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra base camps at Baltal in Kashmir and Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu today.

He also visited Chanderkot in Ramban to review preparations for the pilgrimage, receiving detailed briefings from officers on security measures.Accompanied by ADGP Security, J&K M.K. Sinha and ADGP L&O J&K Shri Vijay Kumar, the DGP emphasised coordination between agencies and community engagement.

Security protocols, technology use, and contingency planning were highlighted, with a focus on intelligence gathering and enhancing camp security.At Chanderkot, the DGP commended recent anti-terrorism operations and stressed police determination for regional peace.

In Baltal and Bhagwati Nagar, detailed security arrangements were briefed by local officials, ensuring readiness for the pilgrimage.

5 Terror Handlers Properties Based in Pakistan Attached by J&K Police in Baramullah

Police in Baramulla after obtaining attachment order passed by Hon’ble Court Baramulla attached properties (9 Kanals) land worth crore belonging to 5 terror handlers based in Pakistan namely Bashir Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Ahmad resident of Tilgam, Mehraj ud din Lone son of Fata Mohd resident of Khargam, Ghulam Mohd Yatoo son of Gh Ahmad resident of Tilgam,Ab Rehman Bhat son of Mohd Subhan resident of Wanigam Payeen & Ab Rashid Lone son of Gh Mohiuddin resident of Satreseeran.

The action was taken under sections of 83 CRPC & are linked with case FIR No.04/2008 u/s 2/3 EIMCO Act,7/25 Indian Arms Act,13 UA (P) Act of PS Kreeri.

The property was identified belonging to terror handlers during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police. The operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the terror activities.

Ghulam Nabi Azad Urges Immediate Oath for Engineer Rashid as Member of Parliament

Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) and former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad, has urged the central government to allow Eng Rashid to take his oath as a Member of Parliament.

In his statement, Azad emphasised, “As Eng Rashid sahib secures a decisive victory in the Lok Sabha with overwhelming public support, the government should acknowledge this mandate and promptly allow him to take the oath. His constituents in the four districts of Kashmir deserve representation without delay. If the law permitted his candidacy, it should equally permit his full participation in parliamentary proceedings.”

Azad further said, “His family and followers have been in pain for the last five years as Eng Rashid remains in jail. I must appreciate his two sons who campaigned for their father and ensured his victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

People have voted in large numbers, showing their belief in the Indian Constitution. Therefore, the government must release him and allow him to take his oath, considering these factors.(KNS

Jammu & Kashmir Deputy Superintendent of Police Booked for Disproportionate Assets

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Chanchal Singh, the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Jammu & Kashmir, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A spokesperson stated, “On 24.06.2024, the Anti-Corruption Bureau Jammu registered FIR No. 08/2024 following a secret verification into allegations against Chanchal Singh. The accused has acquired significant assets beyond his known income sources.”

The investigation revealed that Singh, through corrupt practices during his tenure in lucrative positions, accumulated various movable and immovable properties in his own name, as well as in the names of his family members and relatives. These properties include residential houses, plots, shops, business establishments in different districts of Jammu province, and two hotels in Kullu (Manali), Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, Singh amassed substantial bank balances and valuables.

“Search warrants were obtained from the Hon’ble Court, and searches were conducted at the residences and offices of the accused, as well as his family members and relatives in various districts of Jammu province, Srinagar, and Manali,” the spokesperson added.

During these searches, numerous incriminating documents and valuables were seized for investigation. In the hotels in Manali, an agreement dated 25th February 2022 was recovered, showing that Singh’s wife, Rekha Devi, had purchased 12.03 hectares (240 kanals approx.) of land in Kullu, Manali, for Rs. 2.85 crores, with Rs. 50 lacs paid in advance (Rs. 25 lacs by cheque and Rs. 25 lacs in cash). Additionally, documents related to benami properties were found during a search in Hatli, Kathua.The searches at various locations are ongoing.

Anantnag Police Conduct Comprehensive Mock Drills Ahead of Amarnath Yatra

The drills aimed to assess the preparedness and coordination between various agencies responsible for ensuring the smooth and secure conduct of the Yatra.

Senior officers supervised the exercises, which tested the efficiency of communication systems, emergency evacuation procedures, and the overall effectiveness of the security arrangements.

The drills focused on key security measures, including anti-terrorism, law and order, and anti-IED protocols.

“These exercises demonstrate our strong coordination with CAPF and other agencies, crucial for ensuring the Yatra’s security. We reassure all pilgrims that we are fully prepared and dedicated to their safety. Please follow security guidelines and cooperate with our personnel. Your security is our priority, and we are working tirelessly to ensure a peaceful and successful Yatra,” a Senior Police Officer said.

The Amarnath Yatra, a popular annual Hindu pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva in the Kashmir Himalayas, is scheduled to commence on the 29th of June.

Police Crackdown in Pulwama: Five Notorious Drug Peddlers Arrested

In its ongoing efforts to eliminate the drug problem in society, the police have apprehended five notorious drug peddlers in Pulwama, recovering a significant amount of contraband from their possession.

A police spokesperson reported that a team from Police Station Pulwama, while patrolling in Chiterpora, detained five individuals under suspicious circumstances. Upon searching them, authorities discovered 15 bottles of a substance resembling Codeine Phosphate. The individuals have been identified as Irshad Ahmad Reshi, son of Wali Mohammad Reshi from Chiterpora; Tariq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat from Trichil; Amir Ashraf, son of Mohd Ashraf Dar from Pampore; Mohd Salman Mir, son of Mohd Abdullah Mir from Tenghard; and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat from Mitrigam. All five have been arrested and are currently in custody at the police station.

“A case has been registered under FIR number 120/2024 with the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Pulwama, and the investigation is underway,” stated the spokesperson.

Encounter Between Security Forces and Terrorists Underway in Sinnu Forests, Doda District

An encounter erupted between terrorists and security forces in the Sinnu forests near Kota Top in the Gundoh area of Doda district, officials reported. Security forces, acting on intelligence inputs, cornered the terrorists in the forest area.

“The encounter is ongoing, and further details will be shared once it concludes,” stated SSP Doda Javed Iqbal.

Sources indicate that three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the encounter.

Since June 12, security forces have been conducting a massive combing operation in the area after initial contact with the terrorists was made. Today, contact was re-established, and the encounter continues—(KNO)
