In a major success against drug trafficking, Pulwama Police on Tuesday seized a large quantity of heroin-like substance during naka checking at Litter in Pulwama district.
A police spokesperson said a truck bearing registration number JK22B-3175 was stopped and searched during the operation. During the search, police recovered 263 grams of a heroin-like substance, which is estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees in the international market.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The driver of the truck, Ather Maqbool Ganie, son of Moqbool Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Waghama, Bijbehara, was arrested on the spot. The truck used for transporting the contraband was also seized.
Police have registered FIR No. 03/2026 under Sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act at the concerned police station. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and destination of the seized contraband and to identify others involved in the case.
Pulwama Police reiterated their strong commitment to eliminating the drug menace and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking to help keep society drug-free.
