Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday inaugurated GON’GUL-2026, the 11th edition of the Agri-Tech Mela, at the Shalimar Campus of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K).
The three-day event, scheduled from February 14 to 16, is themed “NextGen Agriculture: My Produce–My Price.” It aims to promote innovation-driven, sustainable, and market-linked farming practices to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s rural economy. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Addressing farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, scientists, and students at the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of integrating technology with traditional farming practices. He highlighted the need to promote organic farming, precision agriculture, value addition, and improved market access to enhance farmers’ incomes.
Over 100 stalls have been set up at the mela, showcasing advancements in modern cultivation techniques, high-yield seed varieties, precision irrigation systems, farm mechanization tools, organic inputs, and agri-startup innovations. Student-led projects focusing on smart irrigation, protected cultivation, and sustainable farming solutions attracted significant attention.
Omar Abdullah visited several stalls and interacted with farmers and innovators, appreciating their efforts in driving agricultural transformation in the Union Territory. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting farmer-centric policies and creating better linkages between producers and markets.

The event witnessed the presence of ministers, senior officials, SKUAST-K Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, faculty members, progressive farmers, and youth innovators from across Kashmir.
With live demonstrations, technical sessions, and cultural performances, GON’GUL-2026 has emerged as a key platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The annual flagship mela continues to play a crucial role in empowering farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
