In a historic moment on Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17, Aditya Kumar, a Deputy Commandant in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), became the first contestant of the season to win ₹1 crore.
Aditya displayed remarkable courage as he took a bold risk on the ₹1 crore question, using his 50:50 lifeline before locking in his answer. His confidence paid off as he gave the correct response, earning thunderous applause from the audience and heartfelt praise from host Amitabh Bachchan.
The ₹1 Crore Question
The question that made him a crorepati was:
“Which of these elements is named after the scientist who isolated Plutonium, the element that was used to make the first atomic bomb?”
Options:
A. Rutherfordium
B. Fermium
C. Seaborgium
D. Meitnerium
Aditya chose C. Seaborgium, named after American chemist Glenn T. Seaborg, who played a pivotal role in the discovery of plutonium. His correct answer secured him the ₹1 crore jackpot.
The Unanswered ₹7 Crore Question
Aditya then faced the ultimate ₹7 crore question:
“Which Japanese artist visited India in the 1930s and painted a celebrated series depicting the Taj Mahal, the Sanchi Stupa and the Ellora Caves?”
Unsure of the answer, he wisely decided to quit, taking home the guaranteed prize of ₹1 crore instead of risking it all.
The correct answer to the ₹7 crore question was Arai Kampō, a renowned Japanese artist who created iconic paintings of India’s heritage sites during the 1930s.
Aditya Kumar’s win marks a memorable milestone in the 17th edition of KBC, celebrating not only knowledge but also courage and presence of mind.
