CM Omar Abdullah Appeals to PM Modi for Statehood Restoration at Sonmarg Gathering

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfill the long-standing promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at a gathering in Sonmarg, Omar Abdullah emphasized the importance of statehood in ensuring the region’s political stability and development.

“Restoring statehood is not just a political demand; it is a promise made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Fulfilling it will reaffirm the government’s commitment to the region’s democratic aspirations,” CM Omar stated.

He said it is the second visit of PM Modi within 15 days. He has ensured that connectivity in J&K by inagurating the Jammu Rail Divison and other developmental projects.

During his address, CM Omar also paid tributes to the seven civilians who lost their lives in the Gagangir terror attack near the Sonmarg Tunnel.

He expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring justice and enhancing security in the region.
