NIT Srinagar Hosts Successful Global Alumni Meet 2024, Strengthening Alumni Networks and Future Collaborations

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar proudly hosted the Global Alumni Meet 2024 on the 11th and 12th of October, bringing together over 100 alumni from various parts of the world, including Europe, Asia, and different regions of India. The event witnessed significant participation from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, highlighting the institution’s far-reaching impact.

The meet was chaired by Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, with Prof. Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Dean of Alumni Affairs, moderating the discussions. Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran, Coordinator of the Alumni Cell, led the event’s coordination, ensuring its resounding success.

The two-day event saw active involvement from Deans and Heads of Departments, alongside alumni working across a wide range of industries and sectors. Key discussions revolved around strengthening research collaborations, expanding internship and placement opportunities, creating endorsement funds, and setting ambitious goals to propel NIT Srinagar’s academic excellence.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Atikur Rehman emphasised the vital role of alumni in enhancing the institute’s global standing. He praised the achievements of the alumni, particularly highlighting their efforts in building over 3000 connections in just six months, a testament to their dedication and success.

Prof. Sheikh Nazir Ahmad facilitated open discussions, encouraging an exchange of ideas on how alumni could contribute to NIT Srinagar’s future success. Topics included partnerships in cutting-edge research, leveraging alumni networks for internships, and improving placement rates for current students.

Alumni from Mumbai, representing finance, media, and technology sectors, explored potential mentorship and placement opportunities for current students. The Delhi alumni contingent, comprising entrepreneurs and policymakers, focused on research collaborations with national institutions and industries. Meanwhile, alumni from Agra shared their expertise on industry partnerships, and those from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh addressed region-specific challenges, particularly in sustainable development.

Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran, coordinator of the event, outlined the Alumni Cell’s vision for the future, focusing on fostering a strong alumni network through mentorship programmes, networking events, and providing more resources to advance student success.

The Global Alumni Meet 2024 successfully reaffirmed NIT Srinagar’s commitment to maintaining a supportive and vibrant alumni community. The event concluded with a collective resolve to continue working towards the institute’s goals, enhancing its legacy as a centre of academic innovation and excellence, leaving behind cherished memories for all participants.
