The exhibition, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), will be held at Polo View Park and feature around 70 to 80 stalls displaying handicrafts, handloom products, traditional jewellery, household items and regional food.

According to officials, women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from Telangana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Tripura, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, among other states, will participate in the event.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and purchase a wide range of traditional products, including Pochampally Ikat sarees, Banarasi textiles, Chikankari embroidery, jute products and handmade items. The exhibition will allow customers to buy directly from the women entrepreneurs who produce and market these goods.

A dedicated food court will also be set up, where women running small food businesses will serve traditional dishes from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.

Officials said the mela aims to help rural women expand their businesses, reach customers beyond their local markets and increase their earnings through direct sales.

In addition to the exhibition, participating entrepreneurs will attend training sessions on product quality, packaging, marketing and business management. These sessions are intended to help them improve their products and strengthen their businesses.

JKRLM Mission Director Dr Shubhra Sharma said the event would help women entrepreneurs understand customer preferences and explore opportunities to expand their businesses.

She said every product displayed at the exhibition reflected the hard work, creativity and skills of women who had established small enterprises through the Self-Help Group movement.

The ten-day event will also feature cultural programmes, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the diverse traditions and products of participating states.

The Saras Aajeevika Mela is scheduled to conclude on November 3.
