Nana Patekar Dies at 75 After Cardiac Arrest at Goa Residence

Veteran Bollywood and Marathi actor Nana Patekar died at the age of 75 on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa.

Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, confirmed the actor’s death to ANI. According to the doctor, Patekar suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence and doctors attempted to revive him with CPR for around 45 minutes. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Despite continued efforts, he remained in asystole and could not be revived. He was declared dead at around 5:20 am on Thursday.

A medico-legal case has been completed, and a post-mortem examination is required as part of the procedure, according to Dr Salkar.

Patekar was one of the most respected and recognisable actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema. Known for his powerful screen presence, distinctive dialogue delivery and intense performances, he enjoyed a career spanning several decades.

He made his film debut with Gaman in 1978 and went on to appear in several acclaimed films, including Parinda, Prahaar, Angaar, Krantiveer, Tiranga, Khamoshi and Ab Tak Chhappan.

His performances across both serious and mainstream cinema earned him widespread recognition and several major awards. He was also honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema.

In the later years of his career, Patekar continued to work in films. He appeared in Housefull 5, alongside Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh.

He also featured in Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, and had a cameo in Subedaar, which stars Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan.

Patekar’s death marks the loss of one of Indian cinema’s most distinctive performers. His intense acting style and memorable characters have left a lasting mark on both Hindi and Marathi films.
