Weather Forecast
August 6–8
- One or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many places across Jammu and Kashmir.
- Brief intense showers are also likely at a few locations.
August 9–11
- Most parts of the Union Territory are likely to witness several spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers.
- Heavy rainfall and brief intense showers are expected in a few districts during this period.
August 12–15
- Weather conditions are expected to improve slightly.
- However, light rain and thundershowers are still likely at many places, with isolated locations experiencing brief intense showers.
MeT Issues Weather Advisory
The Meteorological Centre has warned that torrential rain and intense showers between August 9 and 11 could lead to:
- 🌧️ Flash floods
- ⛰️ Landslides
- 🪨 Shooting stones and mudslides
- 🌊 Overflowing streams and local flooding
- 🚧 Disruption to road connectivity in vulnerable areas
Authorities have urged residents to stay updated with official weather bulletins and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.
Advisory for Residents and Travellers
The MeT Centre has advised people, particularly those living in hilly, low-lying and landslide-prone areas, to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by the local administration.
Tourists, trekkers and motorists have also been urged to exercise caution while travelling, especially along mountain roads and near rivers and streams that may experience a sudden rise in water levels.
