He said these weather conditions are more likely during the morning and late evening hours. Strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph may also occur, along with possible hailstorms in some isolated areas.
The official added that weather conditions are expected to improve from April 20 to 24, with mainly dry weather across the Union Territory.
For April 25 and 26, similar dry weather is expected, although some places may receive brief light rain or thundershowers with gusty winds during the afternoon.
He also said strong winds on Thursday evening caused minor power supply disruptions in several parts of the valley.
The MeT Department has advised farmers to stop farm work from April 17 to 19 because of the expected bad weather.
The department said the warning is a precaution to reduce possible crop damage and to keep people safe during poor weather conditions. Residents have also been asked to stay careful during strong winds and thunderstorms and follow official advice.
