The Meteorological Department has forecast unsettled weather across the region over the next 48 hours, with light to moderate rain expected at many places and light snowfall likely in higher-altitude areas.

The department also warned of possible thundershowers and hailstorms at isolated places between October 13 and October 15.

Weather conditions are expected to improve on October 16, although a brief spell of light rain may occur at isolated locations.

After that, the weather is likely to remain generally dry across Jammu and Kashmir until October 24, according to the forecast.

The fresh snowfall has brought another spell of wintry weather to Kashmir’s higher reaches, while rain has affected the plains. Residents and travellers, particularly those heading towards higher-altitude tourist destinations and mountain routes, should follow official weather updates before travelling.
