The Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organised a drug awareness and sensitisation programme for students of the College of Nursing BGSBU under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan.
The programme was arranged by the Proctorial Board BGSBU as part of the university’s continued efforts to promote a healthy and drug-free educational environment.
Vice Chancellor Shares Message
In a message shared on the occasion, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal said universities should not only focus on education but also help students grow socially and ethically.
He encouraged students to follow healthy lifestyles, stay alert against substance abuse, and play an active role in building a safe and responsible society.
Students Join Awareness Event
The event was held at the IT Conference Hall and saw active participation from students, faculty members of the College of Nursing, NCC cadets, and officials of the Proctorial Board.
The programme began with a welcome speech by Dr. Pervez Alam, who spoke about the important role educational institutions play in shaping informed, responsible, and socially aware citizens.
Keynote Address on Drug Abuse
The keynote speech was delivered by Sumit Bhargav. He spoke about the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society.
He urged students to stay away from drugs and become ambassadors of awareness in their colleges, friend circles, and communities.
Pamphlets Distributed
As part of the outreach effort, anti-drug awareness pamphlets were distributed among students by the NCC Unit of BGSBU, strengthening the message of prevention and shared responsibility.
The programme was conducted by Ms Adfar Javed, while the vote of thanks was presented by Ms Vaishali Sharma, bringing the event to an inspiring close.
