BGSBU Concludes Weeklong Nasha Mukt Campaign with Pledge for Drug-Free Campus and Society

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University successfully concluded its weeklong awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan with a valedictory function organised by the Proctorial Board. The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor praised the Proctorial Board for conducting meaningful activities throughout the week to raise awareness among students and staff about the dangers of substance abuse. He said educational institutions have an important role in shaping responsible citizens and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining a healthy and drug-free campus. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Parvez Alam, who discussed the mental, social, and health impacts of drug abuse. He stressed the importance of early awareness, counselling support, and community involvement in tackling the issue.

During the ceremony, keynote speakers from different sessions of the weeklong campaign were honoured for their valuable contributions. Earlier, Dr. Parvez Alam, Chief Proctor, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the activities held during the awareness drive. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mamta Bhat.

The closing ceremony was also attended by keynote speakers including Advocate Ashfaq Lone, Dr. Danish Iqbal Raina, and R. C. Bhat, along with faculty members, officers, and a large number of students.

The programme ended with a collective pledge to continue efforts towards creating a drug-free campus and a healthier society.
