BGSBU Celebrates International Day of Yoga 2026

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 with great enthusiasm at the University Football Ground.

Jointly Organised by NSS, NCC and Yoga Cell

The programme was jointly organised by the NSS Unit, NCC Unit and the Yoga and Meditation Cell of the university.

The yoga session was conducted under the guidance of R. C. Bhat, who led participants through various yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation techniques aimed at improving physical and mental well-being.

Vice Chancellor Highlights Importance of Yoga

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal described yoga as India’s valuable gift to humanity.

He said yoga helps create harmony between the body, mind and spirit and encouraged students and staff to adopt yoga as a regular part of their lives to achieve overall wellness and a healthier lifestyle.

Registrar Calls for Wellness-Oriented Practices

In his message, Registrar Ravi Kumar Sihag highlighted the role of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental strength and healthy living.

He said educational institutions should encourage wellness-focused activities among young people and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to creating a healthy and vibrant campus environment.

Participants Appreciate the Initiative

Students, faculty members and other participants actively took part in the yoga session and appreciated the university’s efforts to promote health and well-being through such programmes.

The event concluded with a message encouraging everyone to make yoga a regular practice for a balanced and healthy life.

Online Quiz Adds to Celebrations

As part of the celebrations, the Yoga and Meditation Cell also organised an online quiz competition on the history, philosophy and health benefits of yoga.

The quiz witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, research scholars and staff members, helping to increase awareness and understanding of yoga and its importance in daily life.
