BGSBU Holds National Workshop on Learning Arabic Through Digital Technology and AI

Vice Chancellor BGSBU, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, appreciated the Department of Arabic for organising the workshop on a contemporary and academically relevant theme. He highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies in higher education and encouraged faculty members and students to explore innovative tools to strengthen teaching, learning, research and academic engagement. He also emphasised the role of Arabic language studies in promoting linguistic and cultural understanding.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Titi Xavier, appreciated the initiative and stressed the need to adopt technology-enabled approaches in higher education, particularly in language teaching and learning. She underlined the importance of developing digital skills among teachers and students to meet the changing demands of education.
Registrar Shri Ravi Kumar congratulated the Department of Arabic and appreciated its efforts to promote Arabic language studies while incorporating modern technological approaches into education.
The Chief Guest, Professor Abdul Majid Qazi, also congratulated the department for organising the workshop. He highlighted the global importance of Arabic and its rich linguistic, cultural and literary heritage. He observed that digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence could open new opportunities for improving Arabic language learning and promoting its literary and cultural heritage.
The workshop featured scholarly lectures and interactive sessions by Professor Sabir Nawaz, Chairman of the Academy of Excellence, Kerala, and Dr Taslim Arif of the Department of Information Technology, BGSBU. Dr Inayat Rasool of IUST and Dr Shams Kamal Anjum, Head of the Department of Arabic, also delivered presentations on different aspects of digital technology and AI in Arabic language education.
The speakers discussed the use of digital platforms, technological resources and AI-based applications for language acquisition, innovative teaching methods and the creation of interactive learning environments.
The programme was attended by Heads and faculty members from various Schools and Departments of the university, including Dr Md Affan, Dr Manzar Alam, Dr Ibrahem, Dr Aqeela, Dr Asim, Director of the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism, Dr Parvez Alam, Dr Shafqat Mughal, Principal of University Polytechnic, Dr Shachi Sood of the Department of Hindi, and Dr Mariya Aslam of the Department of English. Representatives from the Department of Urdu, faculty members and students of the Department of Arabic also participated.
The workshop provided an academic platform for discussing the responsible and effective integration of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence into Arabic language education. Participants appreciated the initiative and stressed the need for continued academic engagement with emerging technologies to support language teaching, learning and research.
