The case concerns an alleged organised network that reportedly targeted unemployed and vulnerable youth from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of India with promises of overseas employment. According to the agency, some of those recruited were allegedly taken through Thailand to the Myawaddy region of Myanmar, where they were subsequently exploited and allegedly forced to participate in cyber scam operations. SIA Seizes Phones, Documents and Job Agreements
During the searches, the SIA seized several items, including mobile phones, identity-related documents, PAN cards, a passport and job agreements. The agency said the material is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation. Kashmir Life
The preliminary investigation has allegedly indicated that local facilitators were working with foreign-based handlers to lure unemployed youth with offers of jobs abroad. The recruits were then allegedly moved across international borders before being exploited in cyber fraud operations in Myanmar.
Probe Focuses on Wider Transnational Network
The SIA said the emerging investigation points towards a possible transnational chain involving recruitment, transportation, facilitation and exploitation across multiple jurisdictions.
Investigators are now working to establish the wider network, including its alleged local and overseas links as well as the financial and logistical channels that may have supported its activities.
The agency said assistance from national agencies and international partners has also been sought as the investigation progresses. Kashmir Life
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against individuals named in the case have not been established in court.
