Early Life and Family Background

Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi was born in 1954 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His family originally belonged to Mansurpur in Muzaffarnagar district.

He came from a respected Hasani-Husaini Syed family, with his lineage tracing back to Hazrat Imam Husayn (R.A.), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

His greatest influence came from his maternal family. His mother was the niece of the renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi (R.A.), widely known as Ali Miyan Nadwi. Growing up under his guidance helped shape Maulana Salman’s academic, spiritual and intellectual journey.

Education

Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi showed exceptional academic ability from an early age.

His educational journey included:

• 1961: Memorised the Holy Qur’an at the age of seven.
• 1974: Graduated in Shariah and Usul al-Din from Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow.
• 1976: Completed a Master’s degree in Hadith Studies.
• 1977–1980: Continued higher education at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he completed another Master’s degree with distinction under the supervision of the famous Hadith scholar Shaykh Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghudda (R.A.).

A Lifetime of Teaching and Leadership

After completing his studies, Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi dedicated himself to teaching and educational leadership.

He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Dawah, Shariah and Arabic Literature at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, where he taught generations of students who later became scholars, teachers and community leaders.

Alongside his work at Nadwa, he established and led several educational and charitable institutions.

Thousands of scholars, students, community leaders and admirers attended his funeral.

The funeral prayer was led by his son, Maulana Yusuf Husaini Nadwi, and he was laid to rest at Jamia Syed Ahmad Shaheed in Katoli, Malihabad, near Lucknow.
