Hapur, Uttar Pradesh: Journalist Mohammad Naseem Ahmad, associated with Hindi daily Dainik Janvani, has died after an alleged assault in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district. According to the account provided by eyewitness Salauddin, Naseem had visited a businessman associated with a flour mill on Jarothi Road to seek an advertisement for the newspaper. The businessman allegedly refused the request.
As Naseem and Salauddin were leaving, a group of around seven to eight people allegedly stopped them, accused them of being “fake journalists” and assaulted them.
Journalist Dies During Treatment
Both men reportedly sustained serious injuries in the alleged attack. Naseem’s condition was critical, and he later died during treatment. Salauddin was also seriously injured.
Recounting the incident, Salauddin alleged that the assault began after the advertisement request was refused and the two men were accused of not being genuine journalists.
The circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including the events leading up to the alleged assault, are expected to form part of the police investigation.
Police Launch Investigation in Hapur
Police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident. Senior officers, including the Superintendent of Police, visited the area, while personnel from three police stations were deployed.
