BGSBU Organises Online Lecture on Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in the 21st Century

Rajouri: The Department of History at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, in collaboration with the Department of Economics, organised an online scholarly lecture on “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in the 21st Century” under the BGSBU Lecture Series.
The programme was organised to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and provide students with an opportunity to understand the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas in the modern world.
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Parwez Nazir, Professor of Modern Indian History at the Centre of Advanced Study, Department of History, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During his address, Prof. Nazir discussed different aspects of Gandhian philosophy and explained their relevance to present-day society. He said that Gandhi’s ideas continue to offer important perspectives on contemporary social, economic and ethical challenges.
Prof. Nazir particularly highlighted values such as truth, non-violence, ethical conduct, social responsibility and human dignity. He encouraged students to examine Gandhi’s ideas critically and consider how these principles can be understood in the context of modern society.
BGSBU Vice Chancellor Appreciates Initiative
Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal appreciated the Departments of History and Economics for organising the lecture.
He said that engaging with Gandhian thought remains important for developing a deeper understanding of contemporary social and ethical issues. He also highlighted the role of academic discussions in encouraging students to reflect on important ideas and challenges facing society.
Ms Tazeem Akhter, Incharge Head of the Department of Economics, delivered the welcome address.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Shabir Ahmad Punzoo, Assistant Professor in the Department of History.
The lecture formed part of the BGSBU Lecture Series and provided students and faculty members with an opportunity to discuss the continuing relevance of Gandhian philosophy in the 21st century.
