The military said the confrontation began when Israelis and Palestinians threw stones at each other during the incident.
According to the Israeli military, a Palestinian allegedly took a weapon from an Israeli civilian, after which shots were fired into the air.
One Israeli civilian was injured by stone-throwing and was taken to hospital for treatment. Israeli forces said they launched a search operation for the suspect and set up roadblocks in the area.
Palestinian officials had not commented on the incident at the time of reporting.
Deadly Clashes a Day Earlier
The latest unrest comes a day after violence in the northern West Bank village of Tell, where clashes between Israeli settlers and Palestinians left two Israelis and four Palestinians dead.
Violence Continues to Rise
The occupied West Bank has witnessed a sharp rise in violence since the Gaza war began following Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack on Israel.
More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank, excluding East Jerusalem. These settlements are widely regarded as illegal under international law, a position disputed by Israel.
According to Israeli figures, at least 48 Israelis, including civilians and security personnel, have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations since the Gaza conflict began.
Data compiled by AFP, based on figures from the Palestinian Health Ministry, says at least 1,097 Palestinians, including civilians and militants, have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers during the same period.
