Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir – A massive fire broke out in the Gajinag area of Kadipora in Anantnag district on Thursday, leaving devastation in its wake. According to officials, the blaze, which started in one house, spread rapidly to nearby structures, eventually engulfing over 20 homes and rendering 40 families homeless.

The fire, which erupted in the densely populated area, intensified as multiple gas cylinders exploded, causing flames to spread uncontrollably. The inferno raged for hours, destroying homes and properties. Officials confirmed that the quick response from locals, police, and security forces helped in evacuating residents, preventing any loss of life.

Firefighters, aided by security forces and volunteers, battled the flames for several hours before finally bringing the situation under control. Tehsildar Anantnag, Sajad Ahmad Wani, confirmed the scale of destruction, stating that 22 houses were completely gutted, affecting around 40 families. “The administration is actively working to provide immediate relief and shelter to the affected people,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed concern over the incident and assured quick rehabilitation measures. “A devastating fire in Anantnag has left many families homeless. Relief and rehabilitation efforts are underway to support those affected,” he said.
