Inter-Ministerial Team Investigates Mysterious Deaths in Badhaal village of Rajouri
High-level inter-ministerial team led by G K Garg, a Director rank officer from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), arrived in Rajouri to investigate the mysterious deaths in Badhaal village. The team, dispatched by Home Minister Amit Shah, includes 16 members from various ministries and experts who landed in Jammu before proceeding to Rajouri.

Upon their arrival, the team held a high-level meeting with local administration officials, health experts, and a team from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which has been in the district for several days. The team’s visit comes in response to growing concerns over the unexplained deaths that have caused panic in the region.
The investigation aims to determine the cause of the deaths and provide relief to the affected families. MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary emphasized the importance of the team’s findings in unraveling the mystery and preventing further tragedies.
The team is scheduled to visit Badhaal village on Monday to conduct a field examination and an on-spot situation review. Experts from reputable institutions across the country have been brought in to understand the causes of the deaths, which have claimed 17 lives since December 7.
Patients affected by the mysterious condition reported symptoms such as fever, pain, nausea, and loss of consciousness before succumbing within days of hospital admission. A Jammu and Kashmir government spokesperson stated that investigations and samples indicated the incidents were not due to a communicable disease of bacterial or viral origin.
Earlier, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a high-level meeting to discuss the situation, directing the health and police departments to expedite their investigations. The presence of the inter-ministerial team underscores the urgency of resolving the issue and providing answers to the affected community.
