Prominent social activist and Rashtrapati Awardee Mudasir Dar Submits Memorandum to LG Manoj Sinha, Advocates for Retaining NIT at Newa, Pulwama

In a decisive move reflecting the collective aspirations of Pulwama’s people, Prominent social activist and Rashtrapati Awardee Mudasir Dar submitted a comprehensive memorandum to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, urging the retention of the proposed National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Newa, Pulwama.

Representing a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including educators, traders, sportspersons, religious leaders, and civil society members, the memorandum underscored the strategic and developmental significance of Newa as the site for this prestigious institution. It highlighted the transformative potential of the NIT in driving educational excellence, youth empowerment, national Integration and economic growth in South Kashmir.

The memorandum also advocated for a balanced and inclusive approach, suggesting the use of minimum land, prioritizing barren areas, and ensuring fair compensation for affected farmers. Key signatories to this collective effort included Renowned educationist Prof. Ab Hamid Sheikh, Fayaz Wani (Vice-President, Pulwama Traders Association), Molvi Aijaz Noori (Religious Leader), Owais Yaqoob (International MMA Fighter), Altaf Ahmad Bhat (Chairman, J&K Civil Society), Shariya Manzoor (National Boxer),Javaid Sofi (Prominent Journalist ) and several others from diverse fields.

In response, the Hon’ble LG provided a patient hearing and assured that the NIT project would remain in Pulwama, emphasizing the government’s commitment to equitable development and youth-centric progress in the region.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Pulwama, Mudasir Dar remarked, “We are deeply thankful to Hon’ble LG Manoj Sinha Ji for his visionary leadership and for recognizing the significance of this project for Pulwama’s future. His assurance strengthens our collective resolve to work towards a brighter and more empowered tomorrow for our youth.”
